After 3 years of faithful service, my damn-near indestructible Koss UR21C headphones have finally started to go, with the left speaker starting to go down in volume compared to the right one.

What I am looking for to replace them is something relatively cheap (under $35.00 hopefully), sturdy and comfortable. I'm hoping to find another set of headphones with as good noise isolation and bass as the Koss' had, and to be honest the thought of noise canceling headphones has not crossed my mind (I find the idea silly). Also pretty much required is padding that goes around your ear.

It is entirely possible for me to say the hell with it and just buy another set of UR21s (or their successor, the KHP/21V), so I am just wondering if there are any alternatives on the market in a similar price range. The UR20s (also by Koss) have peaked my interest as well, but I don't really want any more cord than 4 feet.

noise cancelling headphones just sorta get rid of steady background noises.

my big computer has a bad muffin fan and while that may be steady it doesn't cancle those out.

actually, I'd stick with Koss brand. I've bot gobs of pairs over the years. I had some ancient Koss's from the seventies that wouldn't give up the ghost.
everything else I tried promptly either broke the headband (i can't stand earbuds, they hurt), or snapped the wires, either right at the muffin, or right at the plug.

if I knew what Bose 'phones were like, I'd plug away, but they really need to bring the prices outa the stratosphere :P

I just got the Creative HN-700 Noise Cancellation Headphone last week, it's a deal price of $10 after $10 rebate, not sure if it's still available

The headphones are also much more comfortable than the ones I was using before, if a bit bulky (which is understandable). They offer very good noise reduction, reasonably good audio (esp for the price), and are quite practical for travel since they fold to a small size.

if you want headband headphones i cant really help you there (esp. under 35$), I would've said the Schneisseuir (big sp.) or Bose, the one thats light and has been roughy 185$ at best buy for like ever..

Howeveri could advertise to you earbud headphones, the silicon tipped ones that fit snuggly in your ear which basically is natural sound cancellation. you wont ever need to turn up the volume because wearing those make you remotely deaf. Apple has a pretty nice 70$ set, comes with a pretty cool square case with 3 sizes of silicon tips. serch 'In-ear' headphones

look cool too :)

Sennehsier PXC100's or 200's are pretty good for on ear work...

If you want in-ear head phones, the Bose IE head phones are about the best I've heard.
