I've been mulling over buying a wheel for a while but with working controller it was hard to justify, well my son broke one and the other is losing its touch so now I can get the money worked out.
One of my local stores is running one heck of a deal on a Thrustmaster Ferrari Racing Wheel Red Legend Edition, 40% off so it's only $29.99.
is it that low cause it's crap or is it a good intro wheel?
I know it has no feedback but I've been using a SA not a DS3 so no feedback is not unfamiliar to me at this time.
Will this do me better in GT6 than a a new DS3 or will I better off with the controller?

DFGT is the way to go. It's around 100-150 dollars but it's a very good introductory wheel set.

Thank for the Feedback, looks like I'll be sticking with a controller, my budget is around 80 at most sorry should have said that in the op.

If you can continue to put away some money (say... another 80), it is definitely recommendable to get a wheel at some point. It simply changes the whole experience for the better.

That's still ok. Saving up is definitely worth it. The DFGT we mentioned before has FFB, which is a must for wheels. Without it it's pretty lifeless.

I'll see what I but I'll proly settle for a new ds3 and get a wheel around Christmas unless I find a smoking deal on DFGT or better prior.
My SA controller is losing its touch to fast to good out till I can get more $$ .
I.e. I put 10% movement on a trigger and I get 60% movement of the gas/break in game. While on the sticks I get closer it's still 10 to 30 ratio.
I'm already on -2 sensitivity so yeah.
WTB individual buttons calibrations PD!

well i got my DFGT min condition for 80 $ on kijiji wich is great i suggest looking on sites like those.

Been looking around the web, lowest I've seen is 100+25shipping abs it was a as is order so not gonna chance that.

Would our be fair to say any wheel it's better than a controller or is a controller better than a low end wheel?

The low-end Thrustmaster wheels are not FFB, they would use a bungee cord system. As far as entry level wheels go, the DFGT is the best bet. Low end wheels would not be as good as a controller, mostly because for the price, you don't get any sort of feel, and at most, you get only 90deg of rotation. The only real downside of the DFGT is the pedals, but for a first-timer it would not matter very much.

Try to find a second-hand deal with the DFGT. It's the best budgetwheel for sure. Maybe, if you find a deal around 50 dollars, go look at the padlle shifters from GranTurgismo, they are a big addition to your wheel.

Personally I would avoid secondhand DFGT's. Buy new and you have a full warranty. keep your eyes open for special deals because they vary massively in price - for instance in the UK before GT6 came out DFGT's were on a special offer from Amazon, but then they more than doubled the price.

As others have said the cheaper wheels are a waste of money.

I don't mind second hand, if it's 50% the price of new with some of the manufactures warranty left and no more than 30% the cost of new if out of warranty

Well the DFP has been out of production for a while so you're not going to get a warranty. But you might be able to find one for like $50-75.

In my opinion there's only one option below the price of a new DFGT.... a used Logitech Momo.

They can be had for as little as under $20, have real ffb, and were a premium product at the time.

Peculiar but get that works, funny thing is its not much less than a DFGT they are going for 80-120 usd

You want a wheel and have an $80 budget. I have a 180 degree wheel, its a HORI Racing Wheel 3. I found it at Walmart for $60. Best offer and deal for what you want that I have right now. I'll edit this post with Hori's website or maybe the page for the wheel.

EDIT: Still looking for a place on the site to buy the wheel, but here you go!

EDIT 2: You can program the buttons on the wheel if they don't fit your needs right out of the box.

The Hori is still no ffb though right?

I only recommended the Momo as an ultra-cheap option. A DFGT is generally the lowest point I'd suggest.

No, its not. I just figured that FFB or not, it will be good for what its used for, although in all honesty its better with Shift 2 than GT5. As for GT6, I haven't tried it yet. I also chose the Hori for its cheap price and my lack of being able to buy items online.

Hori seems to build for the arcade type games. And even what I've found on the wheel in the op it's more of an arcade type game suited than a SIM type game, due it's short turn radius.
And again thank you for the Feedback and suggestions, I'll be watching ads close for a dfgt and checking online sites for one, I'll pick up a ds3 in couple weeks and go from there

Well hey, I wasn't looking for you to take it after reading what you said, but I'm happy to help regardless. :)
