Hi

My brothers interested in buying an Ultrabook, at the moment he has an ASUS netbook but requires something with better performance and a larger screen. I advised him to go for a laptop but here's why.

Budget is £600, but from some research i've seen that he can get something cheaper which will do the job just fine. He's looking for something that has around 8hours Battery life, preferably an i5 Processor, and any screen larger than 10inches. A 500gb hard drive will also be needed. There's no preference in the brand, but i have been told to stay away from HP Ultrabooks. I've also seen a few with Nvidia 640M graphics cards, is it worth paying extra for it?

I've been looking around and here's one i've found, but the laptops got some bad reviews against the Screen. it's mainly to give an idea of what he's looking for.

Thanks, feel free to ask any questions 👍

It's difficult to find a better ultrabook for the money, very nice discount! That one should do quite well in gaming if your brother likes to play games, it's also good to have a discrete GPU because it uses its own memory instead of system memory.

Thanks, a graphics card is not a necessity, but i understand what you mean. Will see if i can get a hands on look, need to check out the screen.

My brother has the same laptop you linked to. It is immensely good at gaming, can play most games at best detail at high frame rates. The GT 640M is worth it, very power efficient system, takes less than 65W on full load gaming. That ultrabook also has DVD drive while staying very thin and relatively light and having very good battery life.

What I don't like about that ultrabook is keyboard and clickpad is no way as good as say a business oriented laptop like I use or even most consumer line laptops.

Thanks for the reply, How is the screen? what is it like in sunlight? 👍

But then again I find that most laptops that are not business-based will have very cheesy keyboards. That's just the way that laptops are.
