I got Shift 2 on launch day and loved many things about the game. The speed, sound, a decent livery editor, real world tracks and I'm one of the people who loved the helmet cam. I saw the potential in racing on elite/hard with the HUD off in helmet cam at night. However, the thing that ruined it for me was the FFB and input lag. I gave up after I couldn't find settings that worked for me. I have been spoiled by FFB wheels since GT3 and if a driving game doesnt have good FFB, it ruins the game for me.

So, since I have traded it in, I have upgraded to a fanatec wheel and club sport pedals and am looking for a new game to enjoy this awesome set up with next to GT5. I'm also intrigued by the Legends and Speedhunter DLC that has since been released. I also hear a couple patches have been released.

So has it changed much for the better? Do you all have regular online races? Is the DLC worth it? Just so you know, I only have a PS3 and won't get any other version. Let me know. I'd appreciate any input.

So has it changed much for the better? Yes
Do you all have regular online races? Yes, see Die Hards/British GT threads
Is the DLC worth it? Oh bloody yes to the legends DLC

But be aware that the PS3 version is essentially broken since you cant complete all races due to faster cars causing freezes on Nords and Bathurst. As Shift2 is quite cheap now tho, I d say go get it anyway.

Get it man, its worth it just to do career i think, epic autolog battles. I was the same about the FFB at first and did bin the game for a while, but give it chance and you will adapt and find how good this game really is 👍 online racing can be messy unless your with the right group 👍

Get it 👍

In my opinion it is the best game in offline career. Add some friends and get your Autolog going. Once you have a decent size speedwall, you will spend hours trying to beat your friendslist....very addictive and fun 👍

Its very good game get it i have both shift 1&2 but when i start to play unlished its more things to do it than shift 1 .get some friends in your autolog and sure you will stay hours playing to brick friends time in carrier even that your not racing online go for it

You should not quit in the first place. Now it may fell like worm up chop, from microwave. Although first patch fix problems with steering lag, but not with freeze on some tracks. So game is better but not ideal :ouch:

Picked it up and played for a couple of hours. Compared to my original experience back in march, it is night and day: It is a hell of a lot better!
I don't know whether to contribute it to the patches or new wheel set up I have now (probably a combo of both). It isnt perfect but the input lag is definatly reduced and the FFB feels much better. It is not perfect but I am continually adjusting wheel settings and the cars and it is getting better. I am extremely happy with the game now.

I really regret giving up on it so soon. It's especially sad cause now no one on my friends list plays to fill up my autolog wall.

For those of you who gave up on the game, I ask to give it another chance and take the patience to adjust and tune. This game fills alot of the voids that are lacking in GT5. Don't get me wrong, GT5 is great and still my favorite but lacked in many respects that Shift 2 more than makes up for. The tuning, the number of real world tracks, a decent (not great, but better than nothing) visual customization suite, and the cockpit view is the best yet in a console racer. All it needs is some proper endurance racing with fuel/tire wear as well as pit stops and this game would have been on the same level as GT/FM!
Look forwad to getting the Legends pack for sure. But what about opinions on the SpeedHunters Pack. Is it worth it?

One serious problem still remains though: The damn auto shifting! How do I turn that off. I like to keep it strictly manual, why does it keep doing it for me? Where can I change this?

It's on the Playstation store for $40. It's ok, I don't hate it but I dunno, it's not my favorite racing game. I like the customization and a lot of the cars. Legends is also worth the money.

I had the same story as you. I traded in the game after being somewhat disappointed with it for Dragon Age 2. I bought it today at Gamestop for only $15. What a great deal.
