Looking to transfer GT5 data

Having upgraded to a PS3 Slim 320GB I was wondering whether I should transfer data from 'Saved Data Utility' or 'Game Data Utility'. I am worried that doing the data transfer using an ethernet cable will wipe all of the data I currently have on my Slim already. Also what happens if I back up the GT5 data on my old fat PS3? Does it go to the network since I do not have PS+?. Can someone please explain this?

You need to transfer the Save Game Data, do it via a cable to be safe. As you have PS+ you could save it online as well or back it up to a FAT32 Device such as a Flash Drive or external HDD.
