How so? We don't know the terms of the deal.

I suspect that T10 didn't state that EA can only provide to them and no one else in future.

If they did then EA are the biggest idiots in the planet. Imagine signing exclusive rights then signing them away in a one off deal.

As always I don't know for sure.

Edit. Obviously Kaz will have to stump up the dosh.

No no, I mean that they could've got the license before, or even had it, but didn't include any Porsche in the game, so they could hype up the DLC.

Of course making money is the point, it's completely legit.

Considering just about every other game has struggled to acquire the license I'm guessing that wasn't the case at all. If it was that easy to get the license don't you think PD would have made more of an effort to get it for GT5?

But even if what you're saying is true, it would make perfect financial sense. I see nothing wrong with it.

MS are known for making big financial deals for exclusivity over rivals and it wouldn't be the first for MS over GT ethier, I can't see this situation as an exception. I am not saying that is the case here however, just speculation.

It is easy for us to say "If Kaz wants to provide the cars for his fans, he can." but we have no idea what is going on behind the scenes, even if there is no MS deal preventing it, there could be countless other things. Plus it's Sony's call not Kaz (assuming you refer to Kaz Yamauchi).

Its not Sonys call... its Kaz call... Sony just pays the bill... and doesnt determine content.

Fantastic, glad I didn't buy the game. I'll probably look out for the ultimate complete edition or whatever they call it. They want $20 for the cars to be reinstated, no chance for me paying that. If people want to spend over a hundred dollars on Forza 4 though then go to it. I'll get the proper full game for a decent price later.

Kaz is a Sony employee, it is Sonys money, franchise and PD is a Sony company. Sony will get the license, not PD, not Kaz. Kaz will most likely be a big factor in it all but it is not his free choice to go about it how he feels, he doesn't pay out of his own pocket..

As for content, Sony could determine it if they wished and Kaz could do very little about it.

It is Sonys call.

I'm pretty sure it is the ones who pays the bill who gets to determine what bills are paid. Especially when Kaz will never be given the wide berth that he was given for GT5 again.

Microsoft's Turn 10 Studios and Electronic Arts have finally buried the hatchet to give car guys the Porsches they want to drive in Forza Motorsport 4.

Just like Microsoft is too big to be dealing with EA about this license issue so is Sony... Im sure PD handles the licensing and Sony just pays the bill

Yeah. That sentence totally proves something, and isn't just a turn of phrase.

$20 for 30 Porsches (7 brand new) is too much but people had no problem paying $8 for 15 re-skinned 'Touring Cars', a further $4 for four cars, three of which weren't new models and $6 for 6 more cars, one of which was a standard > premium conversion?

Oh, and the Porsche pack is also adding 20 new Porsche centric career events. Remind me again how many events were added to GT5 with any of their car packs?

But the licensing doesn't even go to Turn 10 or Polyphony Digital, it would go to Microsoft or Sony. Sure Turn 10 and Polyphony employees might be in the forefront of negotiations (..... well more like MS/Sony lawyers) but anything that comes to term will have to be approved by Microsoft/Sony and it isn't just financial, terms also. To think Kazunori or Dan Greenawalt has free reign with Sony/MS bank accounts and terms is crazy.

Sony and Microsoft make the call.

Geeze, $20 for an expansion pack. i'm happy they ard getting porsche but damn... thats a lot of loot

It works out to be $.67 per car and that's with saying the events are free. It's really not a bad deal when you look at it that way. GT's DLC was about $1 a car, which still isn't all that bad, but compared to that Forza's offering is a bargain.

At first I thought the price was a bit steep, but when if you were to split this up into 3 car packs, they would be $10 a piece. So it's a good deal in the long run.

I hope they completely re-do the engine sound on the RS Spyder. Never quite right to me. i guess i'll have to wait until end of may to find out... Thats a loooong time.

No idea about GT5 DLC. All I did was comment on Forza Porsche pack and you just assume I've either bought GT5 car packs, in favour of them or I'm comparing the two like point score contest and you want to argue about it like a fanboy. GT5 car packs could come with free ice cream for all I know.

And you do have a point... nowadays its better to wait for the complete edition of all the games released... you get all the original content plus DLC for less than the price of the original game.

Agreed. All your paying for is earlier access.
Streetfighter has been doing this for awhile now.

Dirt3 has just unveiled the complete edition too.

NFS The Run turned out to be a commercial failure for EA, so I guess EA is just trying to make up some of that lost money by sub-licensing the Porsche license for T10.

I think EA thought the loss of the Porsche license would severely hurt Turn10, when that didn't happen I got a feeling they thought they'd better agree to something than rather get nothing. If FM4 users started getting used to a Porsche-less Forza then the value of that Porsche license goes down.

Next time around I don't think EA will be so quick to be a tyrant with the license. The precedent has already been set and Forza users won't be surprised if FM5 comes sans Porsche. It won't be as big a shocker and the gamers will still buy going more on the game's features than who's missing from the game.
