A lot of the fun went out of my life this morning. One of our cats was killed by a hit-and-run driver last night sometime. I had tried earlier in the evening to get her in, but she was enjoying the outdoors too much. When I was leaving for work this morning I found her dead in the street in front of our house.
She'd been with us only a year, after being rescued from the pound with her sister at 3 months old. She was as nice a pet as you could ask for - affectionate, playful, polite. Her sister, and our whole family, are going to miss her.
I don't blame the driver for hitting her. I do blame him/her for not stopping. Please, everybody, drive carefully when you're in someone's neighborhood. And if you should happen to hit a pet, stop and see if you can find the owner. They most likely won't blame you for the accident, and they will feel better knowing about it first hand.
Thanks for listening, everybody. And take care when you're driving.
