Oh, man, that's no good! My condolances, mate. A while ago (can't remember how long) I lost a Grandma and Grandpa (Nana and Pop in Australia) to smoking - cancer I think.

Lost mum in Feb to cancer, Dad in Nov 97 to cancer - don't get me started on smoking.

Sorry to hear that mate - I could give you all the platitudes in the world, but sadly time is the only healer. It will pass.

Condolences, My grand pa and grand ma went while I was in the Navy and in college, respectively. It's a very difficult time. As Vat man says time is the only thing that will get you thru it.

Yes, Fermy.

Time will heal, as hard as it may seem.

I have lost 3 grandfathers, and 1 grandmother. I wish you the best. Sympathy to you.

Rememer all the good times. hold onto them as they are the most important parts of your life.

As some of you know I lost my 15 year old sister not too long ago. She was on her way hom from school with her boyfriend and her car was T-boned by another, she was only 1 minute away from our house.... and worst yet, i was on my school bus right behind her, i watched my little sister die on the side of the road.
Anyway there is a link in my sig that will take to some of her pics and some words for her.

Lost both grandfathers and one grandmother.

Mom's Dad: Died from some disease that mosquitos can give you, I forgot the name of it. I was 5 at the time.

Dad's Dad: Died from skin/lung cancer and starvation. We were all forced to watch as his own daughter slowly starved him to death. She just wanted the house and whatever he had left that she hadn't already stolen. There was nothing we could do about it. He died on the 4th of July, 1996.

Dad's Mom: died not long after Dad's Dad. She treated us all terrible for as long as I can remember, and ran around on him. She only realized what he meant to her after he died, and she just gave up on living.

Plus several pets that I've had since I was little, they were like members of the family.

Mittens: Pet cat, had him since I was 7. He got hung up in my dad's car's engine one cold morning in 1996 :(

Pepper: Pet dog, had her since I was 5. She died earlier this year, due to kidney failure. The vet we went to didn't even tell us she was suffering so horribly, his explanation of her problems was that she didn't eat enough raw meat

Yeah, my granpa died in October last year. I wasn't very close to him, but I still miss him :(

I never really new any of my grandparents, but I lost my father in 1997. He developed lung/lymphatic cancer nearly 20 years after he quit smoking. Unfortunately, the 30 years of smoking before that caught up with him anyway.

It's tough, especially if the person was close. Time will dull the pain without dimming the memory. The best you can do is keep him in mind, and use what he taught you. Everything I know about cars can be traced back to my father.

My condolences to you and your family.

I'm very sorry to hear about that, fermy. We'll be praying for you.

I lost my grandfather a few years ago to bone cancer, and my other grandfather died this year of Alzheimer's disease. Death really did come as a blessing to him, because he basically knew nothing the last year or so before he died - he forgot how to walk, how to talk, even how to swallow his food. It is a terrible way to spend the last few years of your life. :shakehead

Well i lost on my moms side. My grandmother and grandfather about 2 years ago. Both to smoking.

And on my dads side just my grandmother to cancer. And just yesterday my girlfriend parents dog had to be put to sleep. Poor dog had a softball size tumor in him.

:(

My condolences as well, fermy. :(

My brother's friend once died at the age of about 15, he was a close friend of my family's. We were also friends with his family, and we visited each other alot.

The only advice i have is really more of a cliche, but what the hell.

Just remember the nice times, and try not to be too sad because [i sound sorta stupid for this because i don't know him in any way, but] he wouldn't want that.

sorry to hear what happened . I know how u feel last year i lost 2 really close family friends and a cousin. The worst 1 for me was 1 of my family friends which died in a car accident.

Sorry to hear that. And my condolences.

Both my grandfather and my great aunt passed away withing the last couple months. They were the last of that generation of relatives. I just try to be thankful I had a chance to know them.

sorry to hear that man... I know what it's like...
My grandma died when i was 9 from lung cancer (I swear I'm gonna kill those tobacco company assholes)
my gramps died last summer from a heart attack, and my cousin gassed himself in his car... :(

it's hard... my condolences go out to you and your family
