Lost all mt GT5 saved progress

turned on the ps3 today and to my horror ive lost all my saved progress. i did try to use a back up that i did last month but even that wont work. i was a spec 35 and b spec 40 with over 600 cars and had driven over 103.000 miles in total. not sure if i have it in me to start from the beginning

Did you try to reinstall the game?
Why doesn't your backup work?
Did you get an error message?

And, read the AUP, Opening threads with that kind of spelling is a no-no.
 
That's awful, man... I'm sure starting over won't be so bad, it can be fun to go back and race those beginner sets with crummy cars again.

Check to make sure your save data is still there. Look under the game column, save data utility. Cursor over it and see what it says.
 
same thing happened to me a couple months ago. I turned on the game was greeted with a brand new game from scratch. It was weird because all of my photos were still there.
 
Yeah lets get some more details here... have you tried reinstalling and then loading your save file?

If that all hasn't worked, then perhaps there's something else afoot with the system?
 
This also happened to me yesterday, I updated to v1.09 yesterday morning then played a little GT5. Then I watched some catch up TV on the PS3 but then when I closed the e4OD (Channel 4 catch up player) I got a blue screen with a lot of code on it...... I closed PS3 down and then thought I'd have a go on GT5 again. It presented me with an error but can't remember what it was something like 8****** (* are numbers but can't remember them). I then had to reset all my settings, wallpaper had reverted to normal PS3 one and I had to login etc.

I tried GT5 again, same error. Took disc out and put it back in and it worked (presumably due to logging into my account). Now I had the start movie and all that rubbish to go through and nothing.....!!! I had a clean garage and 20,000 in credits and it asked me to buy a car. Hmmmmmmmmmmm, I had hundreds of cars and loads of trophies. When I go to my XMB menu I see that GT5 is 53% complete and it also shows my trophies......strange. I also have all of my GT5 photos still in the game and all of my saved replays are there and they work.

Any ideas guys?

wow... that sucks man. If your gonna start over, i can lend you some cars if you need them...
 
Apologies for my typing in the first post. I was in a rush so didnt really give it much thought. To be honest ive giving up trying to re-install the game and get all my data back. Im starting again from scratch and this time im going to back it up much more often. Im quite looking forward to the slow races again, this time I know that tracks alot better so im going to resist tuning my car to hell and even keep the standard tyres the car comes with. First time round I was just rushing through the game but this time im going to enjoy it.
I have mangaed to keep all my saved photos, replays and trophies so something strange has happened. Ive even still got the Nordschelife track so theres no need to unlock it
 
Back
