Lost my laptop today (Good replacement)

Anything you go for should have an SSD. The performance improvement over a mechanical hard drive is massive.
 
If you just need a laptop for general duties like consuming media, email, and internet get a chrome book.

Very good battery life and cheap.
 
Have you considered an iPad? I've found the quality of them is far higher than a equivalently priced laptop.

Better screen, better speakers, normally faster for your needs (unless the laptop has an SSD as mentioned above), better battery life, more portable.

I use mine far more than my laptop because it's far more convenient to use.
