lost sound to the game

I logged in last night to see if the new seasonals had popped up yet and noticed there was no sound. It was just in GT5 not back at the PS3 menu or any of my videos or music files. I figured it was just a glitch and nothing to worry about. Today when I logged in I still have no sound in game. Same as last night, I have sound everywhere but in GT5. I looked in the options menu and sound is on and set to auto detect but I get nothing. If anyone has had this issue I would appreciate any fixes or advice. Thanks.

Happens to me randomly too. It might be a dirty disc issue like Husky mentions but my disc has no scratches and is essentially mint. I was surprised this hasn't been brought up before since it happens to me a decent amount. If it happens, just quit game and reload and it should be fine. :indiff:
 
A disc does not have to be damaged to cause read errors 👍
 
You need to rebuild ps3 database and delete gt 5 game data and reinstall it. Had a similar problem when I could not race online period. The update sometimes screw up files and cause errors in the game.

It's probably best if OP tries the less drastic methods first.
 
Disc is clean and perfect, its only about 3 months old as my original gt5 disc is still in my old ps3 awaiting factory rebuilding. I had to rebuild my ps3 database after that mess and not going to do that again for a single game acting up. I have tried a few other discs in the system and no issues so its only gt5. I guess i will just wait until the next update and see if that clears it up. Thanks for the advice everyone.
 
Try turning the volume up all the way on your TV and then back down again. This always fixes the problem for me
 
Is your AV/HDMI cord plugged into your PS3 all the way? I remember not getting sound once because the cord was loosely plugged in.

From my experience, this last method worked for me after trying everything else.
 
I had a mysterious loss of sound once. This is how I fixed it. Go into the sound settings of the PS3 itself and make sure only the top checkbox is checked when you reach the part with all the check box's. For some reason GT5 decides not to work occasionally if more than the top are connected. But any other game will.. Weird.

That may very well be, but if the same problem can be solved with less drastic methods it would save the OP a lot of trouble.
