After seeing the racing success of the Ferrari 250 "Breadvan" car by Bizzarini, Drogo, Neri and Bonacini, British racing driver Graham Capel gave the same treatment to his Coventry Climax powered Lotus 11. The car was very successful for a brief period in the early sixties and came second in its final race at Goodwood in 1964 after which the special bodywork was removed.
In 2014 the new owner had the car restored to its 1964 condition and in its first race (a one hour affair)at Goodwood this tiny car came second only to an Aston Martin DB4GT by half a second, beating a host of V12 Ferrari 250's!
