I've been alerted of a thread (link: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/lotus-getting-in-on-the-act.284528/) I wasn't aware of the thread so I'll leave further action to mods.

Lotus, well not Lotus but a group of motorsport veterans signed up by Koweda, have released a motorbike division, and for the first bike has signed Daniel Simon (TRON: Legacy, Oblivion, HRT F111 livery, The Timeless racer) to design the bike.

They got him to design it? Is it up to much then?

Here's what Daniel Simon said about the design process:

The design process of the C-01 was a labour of love – there were many challenges – ensuring that the bike not only touches your visual senses with its timeless blend of classic appeal and modern execution, but that is safe and ergonomically sound was critical to me. We have worked hard to create a motorcycle with very distinctive features such as a clean main body, an extremely low side profile, a bold stance, a unique air intake, logical partline solutions and clean graphics.

So... it looks good. Is it a Vespa underneath the awesome suit?

Absolutely not, Lotus have released the following specs for the bike:

Lubrication: Dry sump lubrication
Main shaft ratio: 40:76
Lay shaft ratio: 15:41
Clutch: Hydraulic anti-hopping clutch
Ignition: Full electronic engine management with digital adjustment of the ignition

Chassis

Frame: Aero tech steel/Titanium/Carbon fibre frame
Fork: Upside down
Suspension strut: Twin suspension strut
Spring travel front: 80 mm
Spring travel rear: 70 mm
Brake system front: Twin brake disc, ø320mm, four piston calipers
Brake system rear: One brake disc, ø220mm, two piston calipers
Chain: X-Ring resp. O-Ring
Head tube ang: 59°
Fork ang: 54°
Ride height: 90 mm

Fuel tank capacity: 10.5 l
Dry weight:approx. 181 kg

But hang on... this is just 3D renders so far.

Not quite... MCN magazine have rode the prototype C-01 in a world exclusive. (This is just a preview that Daniel Simon shared, so more at a later date.)

Consider me sold! How much?

$137,000 (Approx. not clear if different liveries mean more money, but its unlikely)

Ouch! I may have to save up... or sell a kidney.

Slow down there, only 100 will be made so before you butcher your organs, see if all have been sold.

Any more info?

There were some of these floating around last year of this style bike with Colin Chapman liveries.

I like the cafe rider, tron, akira like bike style. It's quite cool I just wish the front forks weren't so long and chopper like in angle.

Not a bike man but whoa this thing is insane. 200HP? Not suicidal, thanks very much. But why do I want one? I'm going to sell my kidney for this......

I kinda like the forks. Normal bike ones to me look too spindly, not too much visual strength kinda makes me uneasy

I'm confused by the "not a bike" part

Have a friend who owns a Kawasaki 650cc cruiser who got into a bit of "tumble" with a minivan few years back. He regales me with the story often (with his war scars on show of course) and that put me off bikes. Prefer hot hatchbacks, you see....it's a bit safer.... But I still want this bike so yeah something is not right with me.

How dare thy insult thy scribbler of Lightcycles and Bubbleships

Ahhhh I thought you meant it isn't a bike, rather than I don't want a bike

It looks cool and everything, but I think the design language would be ruined as soon as some meatbag gets onto it.

Choosing the color is the hardest part to be honest.
A Lotus Sprint livery wouldn't we bad either.

Yeah I also saw these ages ago. Can't be great constantly specialising in stuff that never gets made! (and lets be honest it never will). Looks alright but frankly anything in the Black/Gold or Green/Yellow scheme looks great anyway.

Dat tyre profile

I've loved Daniel Simon's work for some time, but this one's not for me.

Its still so weird to me that lotus actually 'made' this thing (in the looses possible sense). I mean where did it come from? Why did lotus get behind it?

All i can say is, its one of the only bikes i could bring myself to like the look of.

As with most things, blame Kolles
