I entered the Lotus Elise cup anf was surprised he way that car reacts in Gt4. It is a LOT easier to drive than the same car in GT3
In GT4 with some minimum suspension tuning that car is absolutely neutral, the way an MR car should be: no oversteer , no understeer just sliding with all the 4 wheels together. Perfect
On the other hand, tuning the Elise suspension in GT3 was a real nightmare for me, I was never able to get it right. The slightest mistake on Apricot Hill would make me immediately end into the "kitty litter" ( gravel trap ). The same problem was plaging me with the Toyota MR2-GTs

Do you people made that observation too ? or is it just me ?
Is it because the physics model has been refined with GT4 ?

I found the Elise very easy to handle in GT3 with suspension tweeks. And I don't find much difference to it in GT4.

Everyone's driving styles are different, could just be you....or me.

As long as I kept away from rumble strips, I loved the handling of the Elise in GT3. I only have tested the Elise on Costa di Amalfi so far, I'll have to check if the car still has a bad tendency to bite while running over rumble strips.

I was always horribly dissapointed with the Elise in GT3 - it never felt like it had any grip at either end. Somehow it oversteered and understeered at the same time; I just never enjoyed driving it, even though I love the car IRL.

The Elise 111R in GT4, however, is a real peach and drives exactly like I thought the GT3 Elise should have.

I have the 111R, and very minor power upgrades (under 210hp). So far, I have about 1000 miles on her, still my favorite car in my garry at 26% completion.

I took her to the Ring against a tough crowd, took out everything under SL65s... Couldn't beat the T350C or Audi Nuvolari (?) though. I have decided it is impossible to win the Pan-Euro Championship with the Elise, it just can't keep up above 110mph (which is a problem on Le Mans and Nordschleife).

Lotus Elise is a beautiful car to drive, both in GT3 and GT4. It's just fantastic!

I got GT4 yesterday afternoon, and drove the Elise in the second test of the A-license. Got gold on my very first attempt at the test, thought I'd give it another go, and got gold by over half a second! - in a short test that only consists of 1 great S-bend at the high speed ring.

you want a medal?

i was disappointed slightly with the elise in gt3 but i still thought it handeld great, maybe i should try the car out in gt4

The elise in GT3 was a good car. But i don't understand why the car justs go crazy when you pass over the rumble strips

Got to pick one up both the previous gen and the new one. Have not goten to Lotus yet(remembers my 1000+hp ESPIRIT 350 Sport).

the elise isnt the only car ive noticed thats a lot better to drive.

It seems more emphasis is put on the sports cars in GT4 than GT3. Cars like BMW M3, Skylines, WRX, Lancers, Shelby GT350 etc even stock are very nice to drive and dont feel slow at all, they all handle lovely and are really fun to drive. In GT3 this was not the case, most stock sport cars werent all that fun to drive at all, only very few were good, now in GT4 its the other way around, i dont think ive come across a bad stock sports car.

Don't read this wrong or anything... it is just an old guy comment.

I have to chuckle everytime I read posts like yours here because it dates me. With time things just change. In real life as well as in games. The next generation is just different. In game, the elises get better as do other cars in the game. In life, what we used to call sedans, folks now call sports cars.

The Elise was one of my favorite cars in GT3, and I never even upgraded the suspension/transmission/brakes, so it can't be that much of a nightmare to tune. It was still good enough to win the Pro Elise Cup, Pro British GT Cup, Pro Spider & Roadster, Amateur Turbo and Amateur MR Challenge with a stage 1 turbo.

psychedelic: It goes crazy over rumble strips because it's so light and doesn't have any downforce.

Drove about 100 more miles on my car today, but this time played around with the suspension settings. Mostly just playing around with the spring rates and some other personal favorite settings. I never drive with any driver aids in this car, but too much suspension changing really does a number on car control, it really puts the car "on edge". I found some decent settings that are just as good on the uneven latter sections of Nurburgring as the smooooth benders of other tracks. Love this car....

I hate it how the release of GT4 has brought so many new members to this board. So many of them have no respect and are slowly ruining the great community that keeps me coming here. Just a comment. I only post like a post a day, but I visit every forum more than once a day, and the release of GT4 has made a noticable impact on people's behaviour in general.

I understand fully what you mean.
M3's, Skyline's, etc, are Sport-Sedan's
A "Sports Car" is a two door Rear-Wheel Drive vehicle with two seats, no rear seats....................
A "Sports Coupe" is a two door car that does not fit the exact description of the "sports car". Meaning, it may be rear wheel drive and two door, but has 4 seats. Or two door, 2 seats (rarely) but is other than rear wheel drive.
A "Sports Sedan" is any sport-oriented four door car.
SUV's and Trucks and cycles are not listed here.

Exotics may or may not be included in these lists. I consider an exotic NOT to be included, but since the definition of an exotic makes it hard to place such cars, they may be included. Thus a Ferrari 1986' GTS Turbo could be considered a "Sports Car". Personally I consider it an exotic.

Sports car Requirements 2 Doors, 2 Seats, FR drivetrain

S2000 FR, 2 door, 2 seat
Spitfire FR, 2 door, 2 seat
Ferrari GTS Turbo 1986 MR, 2door, 2 seat (Exotic?)

Sports coupe Requirements 2 Doors, Not a sports car
Toyota Celica 1978 FR, Two Door, FOUR SEATS
Toyota Celica 1991 FRONT WHEEL DRIVE, Two Door, FOUR SEATS.
Mitsubishi Eclipse FF, Two Door, FOUR SEATS
Alfa Romeo, Spider 3.2 V6 FRONT WHEEL DRIVE, Two Door, Two Seat
Aston Martin DB7 Vantage Coupe FR, 2door, 4 seat (Exotic?)
BMW 3 Series Coupe FR, 2 door, four seats

Sports Sedan Requirements Four Doors, Sporty.
BMW 3 Series Sedan FR, 4 door, four seats (Note the BMW 3 Series in the coupes section as well, note, the number of doors)
BMW M5 FR 4 Doors, 4 Seats (Note, the M5 is not made in a coupe)

I think you guys get the idea.
Technically, many skylines are sports coupes.............

I loved the elise in gt3, haven't really used it in gt4. In gt3, I'd just hit the rumble strips on late part of a turn and it would slingshot me through.

It is true that there are lots more new posts because of more members coming here, i am one of those new members myself, but i think it is great having more people, coz the more posts and threads = more stuff to read = more people getting advice making us all better drivers = more fun for everyone. but i am a new member and i dont know what it was like before but i would of thought it would have been better with more people here. But some, you are right have no respect for the community and should not be allowed here.

imo the elise has trouble on the rumble strips because it scrapes them, due to being so low to the ground - something like 70mm, if i remember correctly, as compared to 90-100mm+ for most other cars. when fitted with custom suspension the rgt gets caught as well, if lowered too much

according to Top Gear many owners criticised the handling of the old elise, saying it's too twitchy.. so on the new one they've made it very understeery. has anybody noticed this in the game?

I have nothing against new members, but like I said, a lot of them have no etiquette. I'm not sure if it is still in the guidelines, but it used to be that you must use proper grammar, spelling and punctuation etc, in all of your posts. That is why I liked coming back here. There was no "imo its good cuz i lik the way it handles on turns". It was all proper speaking with proper English language. In that sense, these new members abuse the license they agreed to.

errrrr... sorry to dissapoint you but the GT40 is in fact called that because its 40mm off the ground (correct me if i'm wrong). the car handled nicely and never scraped the rumble strips.

ive been in a first version of an elise (a 190 to be precise) and it blew other cars away, and to top it off, whats wrong with a little bit of twitchiness, adds to the challenge in my opinion

sorry i made a mistake, the GT40 sits about 55mm off the ground, its infact called that beacuse it is 40inches in full height, the latest reincarnation is actally 44inches high, giving more headroom

I had this car before my memory card got corrupted, and I found it very hard to drive. Yes it handled well, but was very twichy. Meaning if a during a turn the elevation changed, when it settled again the rear would start wandering all around the place, and usually spin me out into a wall. The key for driving the car for me, was to keep the back and forth weight transfer as neutral as possible.

the other alternative is do what lotus did with the new elise - fit less grippy tires on the front, and slightly more grippy tires on the back. in gt3 sim tyres front/norm back was way too understeery, but with some different combos maybe the twitchiness could be eradicated

yeah nothing wrong with a bit of twitchiness, it adds to driver satisfaction. in an fr i'm always falling asleep at the wheel:)
