Hi all, I have 100,000 Cr. and i was thinking of buying a Lotus Elise Road Car and doing it up further after i get some more money or Buying that Jaguar XK8 Coupe or whatever in a litle while instead. Should i go with the Elise or the Jag? or is there any other cars in my price range that are better? Any Help would be appreciated!

SpanKZ! :D :D :D

If you buy the Elise you can use it for the Elise Trophy in Professinal League.

Yes - if you like cars that wildly oversteer.

They're good fun, but hard work - if you're early in the game I'm inclined to suggest turbo 4WD power - the Skyline, 3000GT VR-4 and Lancers are fairly cheap to buy and tune into big-time HP.

Its a good car, i think it gets upwards of around 360hp, not sure Shumy prolly nos though.

ok, i've held out and saved up 150,000 Cr. would the XKR Jag tune up well? Also if the Jag is "SUPERCHARGED", can a turbo or NA Tune be equipped or both?!

ThAnKZ  :D :)

I really cannot help you on that one, I have only driven the Jag on that one license test.

Gee, you're stuck on the Jag, aren't you?

Haven't tried tuning the XK-R, but the weight has traditionally been a real problem with their cars, especially in GT2.

But, if you really really want the Jag - get it. I did that with the Tickford.

Yeah your right, that thing is a BRICK! haha any other cars around my price range (150,000 to 200,00 Cr.) that would be worth pursuing?

SpaNKs :)

Well like somebody above me already stated the Mitsubishi 3000 GT 4WD car is a cheap 40g's. Also when you tune that sucka up your in the 900+HP area. It handles well and can enter many races considering its speed and its 4WD. I would buy it. That car took me really to where I am in the game right now. It still has more miles than all my cars and I drive my new cars a hell of a lot! I say just buy a 3000GT and save yourself some $$$$$$$$$$!!!

the 3000gt is a great car, it was my bread winner once I got enough $$$ to build it up, in GT1 and in 2 I believe as well. The thing with it is, for me, it is a powersteer-drifter mobile. This means NO tire life in a race, which of course is bad news in a course where pitting can become crucial. On the flipside, awd will be much easier to drive with dead tires, if it's setup correctly. As for hp numbers, if you deck out the older 3000gt in GT3, and change the oil and such, you're looking at 1053hp :D (but again, a bad thing if tire wear means alot in a race) About the elise, it's a great car, but as stated, you really have to learn how to drive it, otherwise it will oversteer like a beast. especially bad when cresting a hill AND going into a corner, LOL. The jag is a brick. I was also disgusted by the engine note the other night, when I was comparing it to an aston martin. I agree, the Z06 rocks. It's stuck to the road pretty well until the 900hp starts to come into play. sounds great too :) I'd say get the vette or get somthing like a subaru or lancer and spend a little cash to get it started.. Of course if you aren't particularly trying to get the game beat, just buy whatever looks and sounds cool. You'll win some money with it somewhere :D

and dont forget you can always save it and then go buy a car or two just to test them out. figure out whatcha like and can afford to buy for it, go reload your game and focus on the car you've chosen. I do still do that alot. Heck, I think you oughta be able to give a car a testdrive before you buy em, that'd be a cool addition :)

At least some one likes the Tickford!

The Elise (any model) SUXXX... So go win it in the Amma Europe Cup instead of pumping all that hardly earned precious dough into ti !!! ;)

Early on the Motorsport Elise was my bread winner. It doesn't have a great deal of HP but it's power to weight ratio more than makes up for that.
I guess some people can't understand you don't need a heavy car with tons of HP to make a decent car.
It does however need lots of tuning to make it a great car.

The Motorsport Elise is an excellent choice. It handles more confidently than the regular Elise(pos skateboard). Once you get used to the handling the car is a beaut. The power to weight is good also... the only time you'll notice any lack of hp is on your top end speed on long straights(such as Tokyo) where you might get passed, but it handles so well in turns and acceleration that it more than makes up for it.

Buy whatever car you need for an upcoming car-specific series. So the Lotus Motorsport Elise would be a great buy if you've yet to do that.

Also, if you haven't run the Tuscan Challenge, run out and buy a TVR Tuscan ASAP! You can make 50K/race with that thing and if I remember right, the competition (the AI cars, not yours) is stock, so making a few minor upgrades should have you winning easily.

I have to agree with that bwdemon. The only cars i buy are for specific race series like the Mercedes CLK 55 for the silver arrow races and the Honda NSX Type-R for the Type-R series.I prefer targetting a specific car and winning it to use in a series as opposed to buying 1 that way i save money for upgrades.
The last car i bought for "general" racing was the Renault Clio Sport race car, which i bought ages ago (it's the 4th car in my garage out of about 35 cars).Once i won a better prize car i'd switch to that and carry on that way.

Hey the Elise isn't a bad car, it just requires real expertise to drive. When tuned up, I was able to run with the GT40s at Trial Mountain in the Pro MR Cup. When driving this car, it really gives off the impression of literally being on the edge of disaster the whole race. One of the most fun rides in the game IMO. :D
