Love/Hate Relationship With GTS

I don't think I've ever loved or hated a game more than GTS. When things are going smoothly, I have the best time. But when they go sour, I want to punch a hole in my TV screen. Today was probably the most egregious nonsense I've ever had to put up with playing this game.

Story: As I was making the final turn on the fourth lap at Interlago, the driver I was passing veered wildly and crashed right into me. I managed to come out of the crash in decent shape and moved into first place, but then I got a five second penalty which forced me to slow down and let two other drivers pass me, including the guy who crashed into me! Apparently, he received no penalty at all. This basically ruined my race for me and I ended up finishing in like fifth place or something. If not for that ridiculous penalty, I would have won EASILY. If you want to check the replay out, then here is the link to my gallery: https://www.gran-turismo.com/us/gts...allery/all/replay/5517261/4755875977791308800

You will also notice that my SR plummeted to a C. Normally, my SR is 99 almost all the time.

If you're wondering why the account I linked to is different than the name I'm using on the forum, it's because "dark--stranger--" is my alternate account. I was using it as a casual account and ended up making it my main account somehow. A lot of you probably know me since I have a ton of GTS friends and race pretty frequently.

Don‘t ever serve a penalty in the race unless it starts increasing, you loose a lot more time serving it than you would if you just carried it with you to the finish line

Trust me, I know. I had to stop because it was increasing. Another thing about that race that was ridiculous, I got like a seven or ten second penalty for very slightly cutting a corner. The penalty was totally disproportionate to the advantage I gained. I'm not even saying I didn't deserve a penalty, but it was so much harsher than I deserved.

If I have a half decent race (keep my qualy position or two up from there) I'm happy.

But too many times its ruined by bargy drivers and really erroneous and ott penalties.

Get nudged out of a corner...spin...lose 6 or more places....oh and while you're there have a time penalty....grraahhh

I want to love GT Sport but it feels so broken :'(

Same goes for single player aswell.... The A.I. drivers are totally dirty....to the point that they seem to be targeting you.

Spoiles the whole single player section... but there again.... There's no money to be made from single players. There seems to be trying to force people from playing single player to play in multiplayer where the money is for Sony.

I have an idea about this.

There should be a button that you can press (like triangle) that flags an incident for review after the race. Once the race is completed 3 random players, who were nowhere near the flagged incident, are selected to act as race stewards. The stewards can then watch a short replay, say 10-15 seconds prior to the incident, and decide to withdraw or uphold any penalties given. Obviously this is open to abuse, so anyone erroneously hitting the flag button and causing pointless replays to be reviewed could be barred, by race stewards, from using the flag/review function for something like 3 races.

To encourage people to act as stewards, and not just quit out of the review phase, extra mileage points or credits could be awarded for taking the time to participate?

Thoughts?

Good idea in principle but there would be 100+ incidents to be reviewed every race,

I remember that name! I’ve raced you a few times! I don’t remember if we battled though... if we did, or when we do, let me know if I’m unfair.

Yes, admittedly, that would initially be a problem. So how about making it a sliding scale of penalties for abusing the system with erroneous flags?
1st time = 3 race ban from using flag/review system.
2nd time = 4 race ban from using flag/review system.
3rd time = etc, etc.

People would soon realise not to abuse the system otherwise they will never be able to use it themselves.

I've literally just let off the gas when I deem ok and killed my penalty time, obviously not in one shot.
Not sure if a patch fixed it, haven't played since launch.

The penalties appear to round up though if left till the end. A 1.1 second penalty will be a 2 second penalty if left till the end, so potentially worth serving some or all of it in race.

Interesting idea. The Periscope app does something similar that lets the broadcast audience vote on flagged content. Even with the rewards it would probably have to be limited to reviews of only serious penalties. But it's a good solution to provide human reviews at scale, since PD will never invest in enough race stewards to have one in every Sport race.

Better off serving it before the finish line or before piting(within reason). Getting into a game of game of penalties. Or just at least stop a moment if you are a low x second (such as 5.100 penalty) as it rounds up. Don't know if its differenti the upper echelons. Thats what i do in B

OK so for me it is Love/Hate too! I don't play much sport mode (As i have said on previous posts on other threads - I play GT Sport to relax after a day at work) but play a lot of custom races and GT League. I love how the game looks, the livery editor and Scapes. However in terms of content, it needs more IMO.

The real hate comes when I'm ready to jack it in and play something else but then PD go and tease with some awesome cars in the next updates so i have to play more to get credits for all the new cars (that I want)!

I know that, but if it's a solid 2/5/x second penalty I always carry them with me to the end or serve them after I spun out :D

Yeah sure if it's a .1 or .2 I usually get them down to the number below. Best is to check your gap to the cars behind if it's worth the risk trying to serve it or if it won't matter that much if you took it with you over the line

It the re-acceleration where you lose time. That's why i agree with @Crazybutt198 and i usually just try to time my pit entrance/finish and deccelerate over the lines. I can usually scrub 2sec in 1sec or less if i time it perfectly

GT6 was a my hate love. GT-S is more like a mixture of memories and old habits. This mix is the only reason why i try to play it again and again :)
But it was clear for me since beta, gt-s is a deathbirth. As long they dont start from scratch and build a good physic base they will never come back again into my heart.
