I have just seen the leaked Star Wars Battlefront 3 footage.....

Please, Lucasarts, tell me why on earth you:
1. Decided to take the project off Free Radical Design, thus killing one of my fave developers?
2. Why you think, after looking at the preview footage, that Rebellion would do a better job?

I was angry enough about knowing I would never see Timesplitters 4....but seeing how good FRD had made Battlefront 3 makes me wonder if anyone at Lucasarts knows about games?

For reference, here is the leaked footage:

Because they messed up Haze. Personally after that performance I wouldnt want them to do Battlefront 3. Free Radical should have stuck to what they knew and released Timesplitters 4 first.... now its too late unless someone else buys the franchise.

Battlefront 2 was a decient game, had it on PS2.

Robin.

That footage looks pretty impressive. I had the first 2 games and I think I'll be getting this one.

But how can Lucasarts look at that Battlefront 3 footage and think Free Radical weren't going to do a good job?

It might not look like that anymore because Free Radical no longer exists and we don't know if Rebellion are going to use what's already been done. I'm guessing if Lucasarts didn't like what already had been done, they'll very likely want them to start over or at least change it a fair bit.

Ah I see. That's a shame.

On another note, I completed all 3 timesplitters games as well. 👍 and once killed the #1 rank player called Snabo online :D

From what I understand, LucasArts didn't "pull" anything, Free Radical went under and is being sold off to the highest bidder, in part or in whole.
(that was announced 1-6, so we should be seeing the results in the near future)

The strongest rumor is that Rebellion would pick it up, as they made the PSP games, but AFAIK nothing has been confirmed. But if they did, the guys from Free Radical would probably be the ones working on it (I know I'd want them to)

Chris.

"Sources say that the company recently lost the development deal for the LucasArts project, something that could have led to this end of year shut down."

This is the reason they shut down, it didn't happen the other way around, apparently they also had trouble finding a publisher for Timesplitters 4 too.

I know Haze wasn't the best FPS ever, but it wasn't that bad, not so bad to force people to overlook the company's excellent history till then. Many other developers have made not-so-great-selling games and are still alive, so I don't see Haze as the only reason for Lucasarts and other publishers to lose faith so suddenly.

If it does end up like this, I hope it has co-op.

 See some of the characters they were using?:D

That looked alright, but one big issue seems to be that they used a lot of the same stages from Battlefront II and added some features. My favourite Star Wars game ever was Episode I Jedi Power battles. They should make another game like that, only allow you to create your own Jedi (mine would wield 2 yellow light-sabers :D), set it years before Episode I even with a whole new story, and also still allow co-op.:)
