[edit]My first few pics from GT4, they have been edited (in a hurry with Photoshop. The original photos were very dark and because of this (especially on the M3 shots) some abnormal dark patches are apparant on the hood, this could be shadows but i think it looks wierd.
Also on the Mustang pics the rear tyres appear to be sub-asphalt and i don't know why, possibly because of the acceleration and braking at the same time.[/edit]

First of all, Welcome to GTP! I hope you enjoy your stay. Your photos are pretty nice for your first set. As you mentioned they are quite dark and should definately be brighter to reveal some hidden detail. I'm not sure if you have any photo editing programs such as Photoshop, Gimp, ect. If you do there are some basic techniques that are generally used to create very nice shots. A good adjustment to increase is contrast. Contrast is the difference in color and light between parts of an image. This adjustment will make your photo pop and will make the photo more realistic. Another adjustment that is good to increase (under certain circumstances) is the saturation. The saturation is the intensity of the colors in the photo. This adjustment makes your photo much "brighter" and more visually pleasing. Those are some basic adjustments, other than those your photos have some nice framing and different angles. Usually new-comers tend to center the car all the time in every photo, however in your case you have some nice angles and different concepts. Try those techniques on your next photos and you should see a great improvement 👍. If you have some spare time please drop by my gallery and leave a comment :cheers:

I do indeed, i have Photoshop CS2. I've done lots of work with photo's and various 'graphics' in conjunction with photoshop.
I did consider these techniques but i just wanted to get the pics up ASAP to see what people thought of them =].

My personal fave is of my M5's nose blurred against the focussed background of the forest (Test Track)

I notice a lot of members, new and old, taking many pictures of their favorite car. I used to basically just do that, but now I have put a new spin on it like many of the best "photographers" do. What might be a good idea is to focus on one picture with a set theme and concentrate on getting that picture exactly to your liking before taking tons more. You have some nice, although dark, pictures already, but with PS-CS2 you could make wonderful art like I've seen in other galleries. You've got a good start for sure as long as you put your full effort in it. These pictures are somehow different from other new galleries and I just can't place how. I know once you get good gallery ideas, a set style, and some photo editing techniques, you will have one of those memorable galleries that people love to see updated. 👍 (It's been a while since I used a smilie, I guess I stopped for a while, just noticed.)
 
I like the last Mustang picture. Here's an good tip I learned while using photoshop. Clean off the monitor screen! I was having a tough time removing a .jpg artifact when I realized it was just dirt. Could have saved myself a lot of time...lol 💡 :)
 
I'm happy you know you need to turn the brightness up.
 
Third shot of the white BMW looks great, especially for a first timer. Good work, and as you said yourself, your pics need to be brighter.
 
No, don't edit your pics, make new ones :D it's more fun and for us more pleasing :)

If there's enough demand i might replace the originals with the edits, then again i may just edit my next lot.

You didn't need to replace your old ones, you could have posted it in another post so we could easily see the improvement. Still, I like the new mustang pics now, nce and bright. Just try to learn techniques like not adding GT4 blur and waiting for the PC to add blur, as well as getting the picture to look exactly like your idea was, rather than just finding one you like in the endless camera angle selection.
 
you should keep old ones no matter what. just gives you something to look back to in the future :)
 
go for it. if u check out my gallery, i have all my old ones, and it's nice to see the difference as the pics got better and better.
 
Nice work on editing the first post shots, but the same happened in my gallery, I started off dark. And then I learned my lesson, and started to produce the goods around about early 2006.
