MALLETT CADILLAC CTS-V
ON SALE: Now
BASE PRICE: $66,495 (including $16,500 Mallett performance package)
POWERTRAIN: 5.7-liter, 471-hp, 433-lb-ft V8; rwd, six-speed manual
CURB WEIGHT: 3890 pounds
0 TO 60 MPH: 4.3 seconds (mfr.)

Picking up where GM engineers leave off with the CTS-V, Mallett reworks the 5.7-liter LS6 V8 heads with custom ports and adds a special cam and valve springs with lightweight spring retainers. A performance stainless-steel exhaust system completes the modifications that boost the horsepower by 71 over the 400-hp stock CTS-V; torque increases by 38 to 433 lb-ft at 4600 rpm.

At 3890 pounds and 471 hp, the Mallett CTS-V's power-to-weight ratio takes on all comers, working out to 8.3 pounds per hp, which outdoes the C5 Corvette (9.2 pounds per hp), Mercedes E55 AMG (8.5 pounds) and BMW M5 (10.2 pounds).

For those who need even more, Mallett offers a range of upgrades, including 6.1-liter and 7.0-liter V8 setups (515 and 580 hp, respectively) with billet cranks, rods and forged pistons. Still not enough? Building on those engines, Mallett adds turbos that push output to 615 hp for the 6.1-liter engine and up to 750 hp for the 7.0-liter.

What's it's chassis like? Suspension and so on. It's got a bigger engine and less power than the M5 but the Power/Weight is good. Any track times (ring times preferrable).

Damn thats sweet, and only a 66K thats not a bad buy. Any pictures or is there no body work done to it?

Wow that thing looks great, I wish I had 66K to drop on a new car.

I wonder if LPE has collapsed (because of John Lingenfelter's death) and all future development has stopped:confused:

If LPE is still alive, you can bet the farm and the cattle they'll have a 700+-hp version in the works:trouble:

Pretty gutsy even putting on M5 looking rims   4.3 0-60! Never did like GM or the interior of this car but it's a damn fine outside! Must have been a fluke from GM like the Equinox. :irked:

Last I checked an M5 was stock from the factory. How about comparing some of Barabus and other German Tuner's M5's rather than the factory version that eats the stock CTS-V alive.

A CTS-V is an overpriced Holden HSV GTS Sedan. The New BMW E60 M5 is going to blow the doors off the Caddy. Wait until Alpina, Dinan, Hartge, and other BMW Performance Tuners get their hands on the New E60 M5 it's going to be very interesting what they come up with. The only thing going for the Caddy is price, but when you look at performance data price is trivial.

For those of us that don't live in fantasy land price is everything.

There is more going for the Cadillac than price, you're getting a complete package. The M5 on the other hand while a fantastic car, at the end of the day you still have a bone-stock M5 that looks/performs like every other M5.

CL 65 AMG

Shouldnt the CL65 AMG be more powerful. Its got an unbeatable amount of Torque (793pound feet of torque from only 2000rpm)
and has 612bhp wid a V12. Its practically the fastest AMG to date!
But the downside is price, 100,000euros i think.

CL 65 AMG
Displacement 5980 ccm
Output 450 kW/603 hp
Rated torque 1000 Nm at 2000 rpm
0-100km/h 4.5 sec.
Top speed 250 km/h//155mph*

(* Optionally available without speed limiter )

The CL65 is over $100,000 more than both of the vehicles in question. Sure it's fast, what would you expect from an almost $200,000 car.
