I have a mac mini from 2010. Play iracing via bootcamp. works well.
What are my options,if any to upgrade ?
Want more speed,better graphics etc.
Simracing noob in need of a help.
Thanks

The best way would be to honestly just buy a pc, until (if at all) iracing goes native to mac.

And besides, upgrading a mac mini graphics card would be tricky, and options would be greatly limited by size and power restrictions.

Ok thanks
Want a pc, but love my mac :(
iracing runs ok via bootcamp, maybe i just have to live with ok ish graphics.

You're mini probably has the same graphics card as my macbook. nvidia 9400m? While its an adequate card for general use and a bit of gaming, I'm running race07 mainly on mine (via bootcamp), Its not really beefy enough for high end graphics.

You're options are very limited if you want to keep using you're mac for gaming, upgrade the ram to the maximum and make sure you have plenty of free HD space for use as vram. Thats about it I'm afraid as there is no way to upgrade the graphics card and that really is the limiting factor here...

Macs are great and I love mine too but for serious gaming performance you will have to get a PC. You can pick up a decent spec gaming PC for a few hundred pounds these days so maybe get one for gaming and use you're mac for everything else....thats my long term plan anyway....

Your Mac Mini has a NVIDIA GeForce 320M, 256 MB of DDR3 SDRAM shared with main memory (Minimum graphics memory usage is 256 MB).

The only real upgrade you can do to the MacMini is to increase the RAM up to 8GB, the HD can be swapped out for a faster one but that involves almost complete disassembly of the internals to do.

So in short, you best bet is to do what ravey1981 has suggested, because the weak link is the non-upgradeable graphics card which is not dedicated, and also uses the Mac Mini's RAM memory.

ok, thanks for the insight guys.

This thread did seem familiar, you posted a thread with similar questions here titled; simracing/mac mini.

...which both neema_t and I replied to with this same information, why the redundancy?

Both of these threads should really be combined into one.

If its any consolation, I have the same Mac Mini, you can see it in picture 9 of my Profile's album.
