hello there, i m looking forward to buy a macbook air or ipad
which one would be the best choice for me?
i will mostly use them for watching movies and internet, basic stuff you know :)
i ll be afraid if i pick macbook air, battery life drains out over quickly when i am watching movies which happened often with my old laptop
you can substitute macbook air / ipad by any tablet or laptop (ultrabook)

thanks you

How much storage do you need?
Can you cope with a virtual keyboard vs a physical one?
Would you like to use apps?

All questions that need answering before you choose 👍

MBA is twice the price of a iPad.

Buy an iPad and a $500 Windows Laptop.

ah yes, i need over 100 GB lol, but 64 GB, max size of ipad storage would be enough
it doesnt bother me if i type on a virtual keyboard,
of course, physical keyboard would be an extra but my needs will go definitely on size storage and battery life
i wont use much apps, maybe some games and useful apps.

in my opinions

macbook air

pros
- keyboard
- desktop OS
- storage
- overall performance (sdd, i5)

cons
- overpriced
- screen (i ll go for 11 inches and its resolution is **** lol)
- battery life (5 hour only)

ipad

pros
- screen (retina for the new ipad)
- lighter than macbook air even though there is not much difference in grip
- battery life (around 10 hour which is enough)
- apps
- less expensive than macbook air

cons
- no physical keyboard
- it cant really substitute a computer

Buy an iPad, a keyboard dock and a $450 TV to hook it up to when you want to watch films (sorry, can't bring myself to use the American equivalent of the word) at home.

For basic uses I don't know why anybody would need a MBP at $2000+

I love my iPad but I also don't know if it's for you or not. Try one out at the store and see what you think. If not I'd buy a cheap Windows laptop as was suggested.

Hence the looking at an Air not a pro ;) Although I do say the pro is a good choice, but as a user of one I may be a tad bias :p

All students at my kids' high school get iPads this year. Going to be great... It's the best tablet on the planet. Go with it.

Glad I'm not the only one.

To be honest, I'd say iPad. The Air is way more expensive, and unless you need a laptop, it's not worth it over the iPad.

My mother owns a Ipad and the battery life is really great with it, have used it to watch Formula 1 races in the past. It really isn't my kind of thing and I would never buy one personally, but they certaintly have their uses.

I see it as more of a really big iphone than anything else. That said I would never buy a Macbook either, given the cheaper price I'd rather buy an Ipad.

I know some Android tablets have docks with keyboards that make it more or less an ultra portable. Personally, I use a bluetooth keyboard on my tablet when I'm going to be coding or writing out a lot on it. Barely takes up extra room in my bag.

Same thing can be done with the iPad. Annoyingly, you have to use the Apple Bluetooth keyboard (at least last time I checked), but at least you're not truly constrained to just the virtual keyboard.

Having lived on only an iPhone for about 3 weeks now, I would recommend having at least some sort of cheap backup laptop or desktop computer if you go with the iPad. Some things are just a lot easier to do on a full-fledged desktop OS.
