As far as I can remember main GT titles has always had machine tests (even GT PSP) and with GT5 I was hoping for some extra tests epecially considering we heard something about a stunt arena but as it turns out Machine tests were not included at all.

I know Sony checks GTPlanet so this is a shout out to them to return them, even if it is just acceleration tests (including 0-60, 0-100) on the top gear test track it would be much appreciated. I remember a interview with Kazunori asking if Drag Racing will be included and his response was it has been in all GT's so yes it should return, but it didn't. I understand there has been threads about drag racing but this thread isn't about drag racing, it is about Machine tests in general and 0-400m is apart of that.

Also I would just like to note this thread isn't about disliking or dissapointment of GT5, I am really enjoying it but this is just one thing that is missing the most for me, something that would be so simple to return (acceleration and braking based tests atleast).

I am interested in others thoughts o the topic.

It would be very beneficial knowing a specific car's 0-60, 60-0, 0-100 and 100-0. Lateral Gs and overall top speed at a glance would help a lot with tuning quickly and knowing if you either helped or hurt your setup. Maybe its out so your forced to "feel it out" and really hit the track. Im not sure but either way it would be a good feature that shouldnt be too difficult to patch in.

Yeah indeed, much of my use for it is to aid tuning but also to test cars against each other much like a magazine would. For example SRT10 Coupe vs Z06 etc. Right now we can only really do this with lap times and speed (SSR7) but there is much more than that.

Data logger would be fairly handy for this if it had a proper and accurate time scale. For example you could do a bunch of 0-100-0 runs, circles etc then analyse the data (with a accurate time scale) later to check speeds, time, lateral G's etc.

I'm with you. A 1/4mile time really is an indicator of which car in your garage is fastest. It's much different from taking a car out on a track and seeing what time it sets.

You would have thought that this feature would have been a no-brainer for PD. I was very surprised that it was missing.

For me this is the biggest "letdown" of GT5, but i am still loving it. Would love to see it back tho as i loved testing my cars on these tracks in earlier GT's.

Edit: Didn't they also promise a stunt arena? What happened to that? :P Oh well, maybe we will se it all patched in (I really hope so!)

Yes, this is the biggest reason I hate GT5 right now. I loved to fix cars to their maximum to test them out. Now I lose what I loved to do. Not good.

I think everyone wants this feature in and I can see no reason whatsoever for it not being in the game.

Also, what was the dyno and wind tunnel in that one trailer we saw.. Why not include those?

Now most of us have delved so deep into A and B spec some of us are looking to broaden our options on things to do, the upcoming leader boards is going to help with that, machine testing would assist in that also, especially is our times in acceleration and top speed could be viewed on a leaderboard also.

This post is pretty much a glorified bump, what is everyones opinion on the topic now?
