Ok, I’m thinking about investing some money in Macbook Pro. It would have all of the best stuff inside it (2gb of ram, 120 gig hard drive, 2.16 dual core Intel processor, and an ATI Mobility Radeon X1600). While I like the Macs for their ease of use, I would like to game on them especially with Half-life 2 and Counter Strike Source. Does anyone know if these games can run using boot camp, which puts windows on your Mac computer? I think they should work but I don’t know….

I would think that if you were running Windows XP, you would be able to install and run any software that is designed to run on XP. The only thing I don't know is if there is proper hardware support for your other devices like cd-rom, nic, motherboard, etc....

Because Boot Camp is endorsed by Apple, all of the hardware will work inconjunction with XP. What im really worried about is that those games wont work properly, even though i think they should.

I don't see why they wouldn't work. It's a real install of XP and not a virtual desktop. There's a free demo of Bootcamp, correct? So why not try it out and see for yourself if it works?

It should work. I think the only things that don't work are iSight, backlit keyboard, and other minor things.

Oh and I noticed you were going for the 2GB RAM. Don't buy it from Apple.

$300 to add another gig :scared:

Well I haven't bought a powerbook yet, so I cant try it out. When I go to the Apple store on Saturday, i'll see what they say about boot camp.

Also, if I dont get another gig from Apple, where should I get it?

Perhaps other members would be better suited in answering this, because I don't really know the best places out there to get good deals on RAM. I just checked out Crucial's website and you can get a gig for significantly less than what Apple is charging, but I'm sure there are better deals out there.

d'oh. Should'a read your post better! :dopey:

Half Life 2 Episode 1 runs great on my Macbook Pro 1.83GHz, with 1.5GB RAM, and only 128MB of VRAM. It should run flawlessly on the 2.16 w/ 2gb and 256MB VRAM.

And make sure to order your RAM from somewhere else besides Apple...

Like dougiemeats, I also use Crucial – it’s not the cheapest, but you really really don’t want to take a risk when buying RAM, and Crucial probably has the best record out there. I have never, ever heard of someone having trouble with Crucial’s RAM, and that’s worth a $10 or $20 premium to me.

Anyway, the easiest thing to do is to go to Crucial.com, then on the left side there are a bunch of sidebar links, and you want to find the “Memory Advisor Tool”. Click that and follow the onscreen directions.
