Has anyone here ever tried the Mad Katz 2 steering wheel? I use the Logitech Driving Force Wheel now, but was wondering if the Mad Katz wheel was any better (as far as gear changing and full power braking was concerned.)

Is the Matz Katz Wheel a different set-up? Like gear stick or pads? :D

Never used one but if it's like most other wheels I'm sure you can configure power and braking :spin:

Well for :gt: I'd say you've chosen well getting the Logitech...

Mad Katz is probably, 'Just another wheel :spin:' but anyone can try and prove that wrong if they like? :cheeburga

Sigh...I feel kind of cheated when I found out that the Driving force steering wheel have this 2 major problem in GT3:

1) 75% braking even when paddle are fully depress
2) Shift Lock problem when steering wheel is turn

However I am still living with it throught the game. Now the question is does this 2 problem occur in GT3: Concept. GT3: Concept was develop and release after the Driving force went on sale thus I reckon the issue with the problem should have been rectified through the game's programming. How about the occurence of such problem in other racing games?

Please enlighten me fellow racer....

Don't feel cheated. I don't think the braking problem is anywhere near a major problem, and just reprogram the top two silver buttons (L1 and R1) to do the shifting for you (you'll be using the outside of your thumbs), they are better than the paddles anyway. L1, shift down, and R1, shift up, and let the paddles do the looking back and view changes. Try it, you'll like it.

Thanks bill78512... that was good advice. However I don't seem to be able to change the button configuration in the game.... Do I change it in the option call "GT Force Configuration" or else where?

GT3 officially supports Logitech wheels, so I dont think that you will be better off with a mad catz

Cybourg, have you calibrated the wheel ?
Try recalibrating the brake again, but don't press it all the way down.

The problem with GT3 calibration software is that it does not accept smaller value for the brake calibration. No matter if I press the brake at 50% or to the fullest, the game still only recognize less than 100% braking force. You know that when you turn on the Trottle and brake indicator during replay. To some, it might not be a big issue but without the ability to apply 100% braking means that the car have to slow down earlier to make the turn...

There's something wron with your wheel then, because I don't have that problem. And I have two wheels.

Hmm...thats really odd. Ok one question...if you calibrate you brake by pressing it all the way down, do you only register 75% braking when watching your replay?

If YES it means that your GT3 might be a revised version which means the foot pedal calibration could accept smaller value.

Yes it registers 100% at the replay.
I don't think it is a revised version - I got it the first week.
I don't exactly know what causes your problem, if you can, try borrowing a wheel from a mate - and see if there is any difference.

Thanks for the reply Clone head. I have finally built a circuit base on references from the internet that will allow me to apply 100% braking during the game. Oh Yeah!!! Lap time is improve...

Clone head, I guess you are the rare cases where the steering wheel was OK. Anyone else in this forum experiencing the 75% braking bug?

To Clonehead: In case there is some confusion here, I would like to verify if you are using GT Force or GT Driving force? Both of them are two different well develop by Logitech Driving force have the buttons on the steering wheel while GT Force don't have.

The steering wheel that is giving the braking and shifting problem is the GT DRIVING FORCE....

Maybe you are using GT Force but thought it was also the Driving Force steering wheel....

To Billxxxx: The braking bug can be fix by making a simple circuit. Referance advailable online....Just search google: Logitech Driving Force Brake Fix
