ESPN 2K5 for Xbox still is the most realistic looking football game with gameplay to match. If you are a madden fan and you dont like espn thats good but this is about graphics. If one is going to shell out $400 for super powerful system shouldnt you expect better than what was on the last gen. PGR2/Forza had far more polygons than GT4 but GT4 still looks better. Graphics do matter. I see why EA needs an exclusive deal.

Madden 06 XB360

For compairisons here is ESPN 2K5 for Xbox And it makes the new madden look not so next gen and no where near that CG trailer from E3.
ESPN 2K5

ESPN has more realistic player models.
This is by no means a knock to the hardware but only on EA, I also question their PSP staff

The sad part is that, because it's EA, it will never really improve over the entire life cycle of the next-gen consoles. Little improvements here and there, but it'll never look anywhere near what's actually possible.

I look forward to seeing one of the non-licensed games totally stomp EA in terms of graphics, animation, immersion, etc.

They do that because they know people will buy it just because it's Madden. With an exclusive NFL deal they dont have to put in overtime to beat the next guys game. The stadiums look freaking fantastic however but the focal point is the player models.

I dont like the idea of a $400 graphics update when they could do better with the current gen version.

One can only imagine what the 2K football series would look like on Xobx360, Possibly better than the Next Gen Madden CGI trailler.

Only some EA games suck. i guess the graphics are very good but ive played demos of american football games, wtf are the rules? how do you get points?

Stomping on pink flamingos.

Or getting the ball into the endzone. I think it is similar to rugby, though I'm not sure of rugby's rules.

If I had to choose between NFL and Rugby I would select Rugby insted of NFL mate.

You get four downs, you have to get from where your team either started or intercepted the ball.

If you get tackled and brought down = 1 down, next would be 2 down etc...

Different fields of play can be used to get from a-b

Get to the endzone for points! if you back into your own endzone that equals safety but gives opposition 2 pts!

Thats the basics, and is as much as i know, i only learned through playing madden.

I don't really give a darn about graphics, just features.

MY DISSAPOINTMENTS

Fashion Uniforms- Alternate colors that aren't even used on the field. Instead of these, you could have other throwbacks. Chicago, for example, has two versions of their "orange alternate", but not the helmet with the white C.

Too Many Alternates- Do they have to mix and match every color? Multiple pant colors, multiple jersey colors, and they have to have every possible combination? Throwbacks are more important than fashion, save for capitalism. But capitalism is only beneficial to them. Let's have a compromise here.

Madden Cards- You can unlock historical teams and uniforms with them, but most of them are cheats, which is stupd. All that hard work just to enhance Randy Moss' stats? I want a freaking throwback, not a blasted cheat.

No Classic Stadiums- Why not have the Giants play at Yankee Stadium or the Rams play in LA? If you weren't so busy making it "cool", you could do that.

The physics and crap still look HORRIBLE from that video. Wow, they have player textures. Big deal. The shirts look like they're plastic. Even the "prediction" video is horribly mocap'd. The people aren't even moving realistically.

Madden always upsets me.

EA used to be one of my favorite publishers, like since really early 90's. After I heard about their NFL deal, I started boycotting their games. I haven't even looked at a EA game since. If you don't like how they operate, you let them know by stop giving them your money. :grumpy:

EA RULED back in the genesis days.

God, NHL and Madden were like the best games ever.

I agree with you there 100%. First they make NASCAR exclusive(which I didn't care for) and now the NFL. Is this starting to scare anyone? What's next EA? I found it difficult to get into the Madden games though, the gameplay felt slow(reason why I don't own Madden). My last game I bought from them was NBA Live 2005, only because of the dunk contest. The last Live I bought before that was '98. But no doubt the best was NBA Live 96, that **** is classic. BTW, they don't see any money if you buy the games used :sly: .

I think I heard that they have license on F1 and FIFA(soccer/football), also? I think I did.....

I used to buy NBA Live series every year, since "Bulls vs. Blazers", which was probably my first EA game. Last year, I bought NBA 2K5. It was $15, NEW! And it was only 2, 3 months after it had come out. Didn't one of the publishers buy exclusive right for the NBA license? I hope it wasn't EA. :nervous:

Yes, they have FIFA's license, but Konami's Winning Eleven series is far superior even without the license it sells much more.

The F1 license I think Sony bought, not sure.

ESPN 2K had a better unlockables area: the Skybox. Instead of cards, you simply used the points you recieved to unlock uniforms, stadiums, historic teams, etc. With Madden, you use your points to buy cards. The cards are random and are mostly cheats. ESPN2K had a better presentation also.
