Madden NFL 2009

I'm worried about this game after playing NCAA Football '09 (lots of bugs in NCAA and downright lazy developing)

I'll wait a few weeks after its out and will read all the reviews, both professional and amateur before I decide to buy.

EA just can't be trusted anymore

2004 was the last great Madden. 2005 wasn't as good as 2004 but it worked. 2006 and onwards has been very bad.

At least this year the PS3 version should run at 60fps. Will it miss out on the extra shadows and basicly better looking graphics the 360 version had again?

Hopefully not.

Little Big Planet and Madden are the only games I'm planning on buying for the rest of the year

I'm only buying this year if it's GREAT not just good

However you would be surprised the number of people I've seen on forums who have admitted they will buy the game no matter what just to get their 'madden fix'

It's those people who encourage EA to not try anymore

Personally I haven't bought Madden since '06, I skipped '07 and '08 and I'm waiting on the verdict on '09 before even considering

I find it funny that every year critics say that the series is more and more flawed, broken and lazy with each passing year. Yet every single time the next installment is about to launch, they give it massive, Halo-like launch coverage and hype.

That being said, I think a blue PSP would rock my socks.

Gamespot gave it a 8.0. I don't think it's even got a 9 from anywhere else. IGN gave it a generous 8.8 and said the series has gotten better with age. Sorry, but Madden was a 28 year old pro in 2004. Now its a 40 year old washed up quarterback.

So I'll pass, again, for the third straight year.

It's pathetic EA beats their chest about the fact Madden has been around for 20 years, but it shows how truly pathetic they are that the game has been on a decline for the past 4 years straight.

Just look how they're fine tuning the settings for cheesers, you can now customize almost everything about your offense pre snap, you can even tell your guards which way to block. Give me a break.

I really hate this is another year without a decent professional footbal game.

Closing Comments

Madden 09 could easily be swept under the rug by the casual onlooker as being, “just another release.” And, for the most part, it is, but that doesn’t make it any less worthy of your cash.

X Play gave it a 5 out of 5, but that seems to have been the typical "watch our show target demographic" drivel that G4 has turned the show into (they never made any mention of it having any problems whatsoever) everytime a major hyped game is up for review.

A scale of 5 is too vague a scale when nobody has the balls to give a score less than 3.
