Do you guys want to re-value the awesome and marvelous thing GT5 really is?

I must admit that I whined a lot about some things that GT5 got wrong, but found the magic cure to see them as marginal insignificant details:

Play Need for Speed Shift 2, or any other "new" racing game in a console.

Honestly, that was the best thing I could do.

When I saw the fat annoying guy on 3DO like video sequences saying: "Man, this is some sick machine I drive" with that peculiar emphasis, I thought that jazz music on the background and some spec reading is a little bit, just a little bit more classy.

When I "drove" the "cars", I enjoyed the crashes as in a roller coaster freak ride, yeah pretty cool if you want to simulate an ACID RUSH or something, but I rather have bouncing off the wall.

When I saw the bikini girls with the flags every time a race starts, well, I thought, these guys got some class, wow. I rather have carton crowds.

When I saw that you can buy with real money the cars in the game instead of earning them, wow, I rather grind Indy, and thank the Japanese for reminding us that things should get done with effort, and that money is not the be all end all solution in life.

Really, the examples could go on forever and with many other racing games on PS3, I can't believe I actually fell to the hype.

Fool me once, shame on you EA, fool me twice, shame on me.

Honestly, I can't believe that people took Shift 2 seriously, I had huge laughs at the vulgarity, drug-addict rush ambience, and people calling it a real car game that is out to get GT5.

That was as ignorant as saying back in the 90's:

Yeah, Bono is gonna put Pavarotti to shame when they sing together on Tour.

Thank you GT, thank you for existing, really.

P.S. I will always rather drive a Miata in GT5 than a Gumpert, or any other thing in Shift2.

The game just looked bad because GT5 raised our standards . . . alot

👍 GT5 has class despite it's growing pains.

Shift 2 is just another junkie happy meal from McD's.

All the racing games out now are just trying to compete with GT, none of them have been able to. Yes they do have their own unique style that attract people to them for different reasons, but I believe that even with all the "flaws" that came with GT5, it still is a leap and bound above the rest.

Yep. Gt5 is definitely my favorite racing game. All the others don't even compare. The account of cars, tracks, and tons of things to do make it my favorite ps3 game I have.

Nice to read a review from an apparent true enthusiast like myself.

I bought Shift 1 just to have a racing game on the ps3 before GT5 came out. NFS Underground was a fun game in its day and I was hoping for a similar feel with Shift. I could not believe how poorly executed Shift was. After forcing myself to play the game for several hours over a few days, I threw it away and did not use my PS3 for anything but movies until GT5 came out. I won't be wasting my cash on Shift 2 - that's for sure!

EA needs to stick to the Battlefield games and leave sports and simulators to others.

Shift 2 on xbox is like night and day.

PS3 version is awful but the Xbox version is good.

Just saying.

I honestly don't see the point of this thread, just another person that might start a flame war

They do fantastic jobs at sport games, but simulators, you're correct about. They need to stop with that.

I agree mate, it's silly.

If I have a terrible experience on holiday , I'm not going to book somewhere worse next year just to feel better about the first holiday.

Or something like that lol.

This thread is hilarious.

lol My thoughts exactly. GT5 vs. [insert other racing game here] threads don't end well here.

There was a huge FM3 vs. GT5 thread in the main GT5 forum, and guess what, it's locked.

im starting to really really like it now, although there are still some weird goings on, like the shadows lol

I love that logic! :dopey: "I had such a crappy time on my visit to Tripoli that I decided to spend some time in Somalia. Ya know, now that I've been to Somalia, Tripoli wasn't so bad."

the guy is just voicing his opinion, just like you did when you came into his thread and posted your opinion

I'll whine... Why are there five million Mazda maiatas or however you spell it and why are most of Dodges cars vipers.....

Is this an answer to a question not asked?

In any event

If there is no Gouda in there you are going down...

My post wasn't an opinion at all. Not putting up with your repeating comments either.

yes it was

99% likely this will turn into a gt5 vs shift flame war though.

I know, which is annoying when people just put these threads here.

I know, which is annoying when people just put these threads here.

The annoying stuff is when people cannot read a bit.

This thread is ultimately saying:

"In my opinion, GT5 has flaws, and people maximized them because GT5 is the bar setter, and wanted perfection." "Other games will never come close to GT5 on the console, rendering those flaws insignificant".

The question asked is:

"¿Do you want to cure the whining?"

P.S. Your avatar is kind of... Never mind, you play the oboe, you must be cool. Marigaux=GT5

I called it annoying because it's just another thread that gets locked because it always gets turned into flames.

Yes, and this thread will only make it worse.

Once again, hilarious.

Explain. I know PS3 tends to get shafted with most multiplatform games (especially from EA) but I'd like to know how in this case.

Have you played both?

As for your other comparison: Try something, it's bad. Try something worse to make the first one look good. That's inaccurate in this situation I think.

It's more like this. Someone tries something (GT5), finds flaws, and deems it flawed. Then hears from the majority of people that there's this other something (Shift 2) that does what he first tried, only way better and without the flaws. So he tries this thing that is supposedly the best and finds out that it's worse than the first. This doesn't make the first thing's flaws disappear, but it does mean that pretty much everything else is even worse and your best bet is to just ignore the flaws as best you can and enjoy the amazingness that's packaged along with them.

Um, no. The OP got his point across. People assisted the derailment. The End.
