While March is a bit a ways from now, its not too early to start the ball on the 2026 season. Dodgers looking to 3 peat ahead of an expected lockout in 2027.

First strange move of the offseason is the Orioles trading P Grayson Rodriguez for Angels OF Taylor Ward.

I have a feeling that the Yanks, now Grisham has accepted the qualifying offer and messed up the budget plans, will do their usual act. Pass on the expensive elite hitter (Tucker) and sign the cheaper above-average option (Bellinger) to a long contract that lessens the AAV hit. We've seen this Cashman ploy so often, it starts ok and almost always ends badly (Hicks, Lemahieu, etc).

With the Orioles I can only assume they didn't like Grayson's health longterm because that move doesn't make much sense otherwise. I won't complain, the division is looking tough enough so any little helps.

Just enjoy the upcoming season because another ownership lockout is clearly coming.

Which is the entire reason Grisham took the QO (and definitely why Torres, Woodruff and Imanaga did as well). He'd rather get the money now and then worry about 2027 if it happens. You don't get paid during a lockout.

Mets and Rangers traded older veterans for each other as OF Brandon Nimmo was sent over to Texas (with $5 million in cash) for 2B/SS Marcus Semien. The trade is about equal on money (Mets over lifetime of both deals save $3 million), but Semien is about 2 years older and a sort of better fielder, which fits what the Mets are looking to do over the offseason.

Mets sign Devin Williams for 3 years. Have fun on that rollercoaster

I think the biggest worry for the Mets is really Soto vs Lindor vs McNeil chemistry. It was sad to see Brandon leave after (14 years?) with the Mets organization, but our core was become way too complacent. Semien seems more of a business minded get-to-work type of player.

Jeff Kent is now a Hall of Famer. Barry Bonds is not.

I don't care about the drugs, everyone was using them at the time and before, there are already dopers in the hall, it's all a joke.

Rich getting richer

Rich getting richer

So this made me extremly angry because not only we let him walk for a measily 3 million which the Mets allegedly have in abundance, but to lose him to the Dodgers?? Out of all teams?? the team that had only ONE weakness, which is their bullpen, we go ahead and fix that hole for them.

EDIT: yep, and now we lost Pete Alonso... Yeah the Mets just cooked this season.

I am upset about Diaz because he basically was gone during the summer. His brother was raving how good their staff was. In addition, he was mad the Mets fired Hefner (who wasn't that good in getting length out of pitchers).

Alonso? Hurts sentimentally but he wanted the years. Mets weren't going to go that far in length. Stearns has no connection to Alonso and from a business perspective, it is a risky deal for a player possibly past his peak stuck as a 1B to a DH role. The Mets will likely have to put Soto at DH near the tail end of the deal and if Alonso is stuck at DH... yeah.

Doubling up on erratic relievers who lost the Yankees closer job.

(I forgot Clay Holmes, so it's actually a triple dip)

Yeah now I know how non Yankees fans used to feel. TBH I actually don't have problems with them doing that because it shows they are willing to put their money where their mouth is. If I were a Dodger fan I would be through the moon.

After losing out on Tucker, Mets pivoted to sign Bo Bichette to play 3B.

AND

Mets traded for OF Luis Robert Jr from the White Sox for INF Luisangel Acuna and a prospect.

AND

Mets on verge of acquiring SP Freddy Peralta from the Brewers.

Good moves to get some quality players, though I don't know about the prospects to judge the cost. I wouldn't have minded any one of them on the Yankees. Robert Jr can be frustrating at the plate but the power is good and he is a fantastic defender.

Yanks actually held the line with Bellinger/Boras and stuck to a 5 year deal. I'm not the biggest fan of him or this contract but it could've been worse, and they are too conscious of a self-imposed budget these days to be in on someone like Tucker. We're still running back pretty much the same team as last year though, few upgrades, so Judge will need to have another 10 win season . I really think we need to move on from Volpe and upgrade the shortstop position, even if it's just a league average hitter.

Acuna was out of options so if he didn't make the club out of spring training, he was likely going to be non-tendered. It doesn't help that the Mets have too many infielders who can hit better than him. Acuna is a singles guy with great speed to leg out an extra base hit and can play good defense. He was blocked by Lindor.

Sproat is 24 and had a cup of coffee with the Mets last year. Decent pitcher but didn't blow everyone away in 2025 (McLean) or possess a strong composure and unique growth (Tong). That made him expendable.

Williams is like Acuna, can play up the middle and the outfield, can hit and run and has been a top prospect for the team for awhile. The problem is, like Acuna, he is blocked by Lindor and he is a bit shorter than optimal as a hitter.

The USA on the verge of being dumped out of the WBC, and the manager thinking they'd already qualified for the knockout stage, is peak comedy. So much for the Dream Team

GB won a game as well :)

Very much enjoyed the World Baseball Classic this year. Well done Venezuela. All the teams (except the usual suspects) having lots of fun. Good to see, it's only a game after all.

It's been a nice season so far watching the ongoing train wrecks that are the Mets and Red Sox

Also the challenge system really shows just how useless the umps are and have been. Just go full roboumps already.

All the other owners must really love the Dodgers. Single handedly making the case for a hard salary cap and more competitive balance in the upcoming negotiations/strike.

(I acknowledge the irony of a life-long Yankees fan saying this, and yes I'm jealous)

Dodgers: Throw a dump truck of money out to buy Skubal, proceed to lose the next six games
Tigers: Send away one of the greatest prizes in the MLB, currently second in the AL Central

Is someone letting ChatGPT write the script again?

The Blue Jays are winning more than losing now that they have traded away the fan-favourite pitcher too.
