Dont know what happened but my GT5 data file has just vanished!!!!!!

Playing online one minute, it crashes and then everthing has gone!!!

94% completed, 984 cars, all my licences, 8,500,000 credits ALL GONE!

to say Im a little tits off right now is an understatment :o(

...any one else had this?

....is my pS3 on its way out?

Do you have a back up file? I'm guessing not. Anyway, heinsight is 20/20, that sucks. You may have to start over.

Yep, it's best to back up your files.
I usually put my Save files on a USB drive and put them in a folder on my computer... I usally back up my saves about once a week

No back up!

strange thing is all my friends are there, all my messages are there just the GT5 game data?

Has some 🤬 hacked me?

I thinks SCE will be getting a call in the morning.

What cars can't you get by starting over? You can re-load any DLC. You can trade for the SPL Go Kart and the Toyota 86 Concept. But you can't get the GTR Academy Special? Is there any others?

Looks like its only my cars, licenses and credits have gone?

Your photos stay and mock you. Send me a FR and I'll send some parts. I'm booked for other stuff right now but will help with more later. I also have cars on share. Let me know if you need a particular car on share. :)

Don't do that. They can't and won't do anything. It's not their fault that you didn't back up, or that your PS3 was on it's way out. (which possibly could've been prevented by keeping your PS3 in a cool and dust-free environment, and vacuuming your PS3 out every few weeks) I'm not trying to sound mean but that's the way it is.

And what would they do if you would call them? Magically create an exact replica of your gamesave? I know I may sound a little harsh, but I'm just telling you that they can't do anything for you, nor is it their fault.

its so anoying as i was trying to get every car in my garage.....
at least it is allowing me to doan load all the 'paid' for dlc again...

I know what our saying, but I shouldnt have to make back ups of saved data.....

Well then you're setting yourself up for failure. The PS3 is a machine. All machines are inclined to fail. If you don't have a backup in the event of a failure, then you lose whatever you had. There's no way around it and it's not that hard to backup.

How do you vacuum your PS3?

How do you vacuum your PS3?

A vacuum cleaner, of course :dopey: But many people uses compressed air to remove the dust.

And quite sorry for the data loss, OP. Unfortunately without a backup you can't do much. But at least a clean start will give you a better career 👍

I do this once every couple weeks. Keep the vents clean and clear of dust.

I see two potential problems with using compressed air.
1.) The air could blow some of the dust further into the console.
2.) If you use air from a regular compressor, it is filled with moisture which can damage your console. You can buy special duster products for electronic equipment.

Yes ,DO it!!

Why not?

Happened to me and many others, more people complain the more likely a fix!

There's no "fix." The only way you can get your PS3 to not get the YLOD or whatever is to maintain it. I don't understand why people don't backup, and when they're too lazy to do it and their PS3 corrupts, they blame Sony instead of themselves. Classic lazy-guy move. Sony can't fix things like this through an update. It's an overheating due to lack of breathing ability problem.

Do you drive a car?

If so do you keep a spare in the garage for when it breaks down?

Have you a fridge freezer at home?

Do you keep a spare full of food incase it breaks down and thaws out the food inside?

When you make your self a drink in the morning do you make a second in case you spill the first?

When you get married do you have another wife in the back room in case the first doesnt turn out how you wanted?

can you see a pattern here????

What im saying is you buy a quality product like Sony and you shouldnt have to back it up 'in case it breaks down' I didnt recall it saying anything on the box or in the instructions about having to make a back up?

I know what your saying but we shoulndt have too do it......

Ok me thinks i might be a little touchy about the whole crash thing, but shouldnt I be?

It happened to me last week, I was on day 2790 and only need a couple of Pontiacs from the USD to complete standard car collection but I had backed up onto a USB memory stick a couple of days ago. It reloaded ok but I was sweating for a while !

OK, question:
Do you have a computer?
Do you backup your data?
Did "they" they tell you to on the box it came in or in the manual?
What do you think a ps3 is?
Might it be a computer?
So do you have to backup your personal stuff on it?
.

I really find it hard to believe that over a year into the game and thousands of threads worldwide stating "Ive lost my cars and I was level xxx all gone boo hoo what can I do"

Is it really that hard to do a game save. And dont come saying you haven't read about it as I stated there are thousands of these post worldwide.

Game save every day SIMPLES.

Hay Paulfindon, I know it is hard time for you about this, but backuping a important data is really a must-have for all important games.

I still have backups of my original GT and GT2 saves on PSone Memory Cards and on every PS2 memory card I own. I also have 4 PS2 cards with my GT3, GT Concept, GT4:P and GT4 data copied all over the place and I also backed them up on my PS3 with the USB Memory Card device.

Also, all of above is safely stored on 2 USB memory sticks and safe for the future generations :)

So small effort for such big potential waste of time.

You'd better be mayor pi$$ed of to yourself, since there is a backup possibility! And lotsof people have had this and always post on the forum, because they did not make a backup as you...!

What should be and what it is are two different things.
Yes, Sony products should never break down, but they do.
Knowing that, you create a back up and clean your system regularly.
I myself, having seen countless threads about this problem, I do back up.
Well, im forced to due to trading. I have never cleaned up my PS3 though.
Would someone be so kind as to give a link or something that is specially made for PS3? Or something that will clean off the dust without damaging any material on the inside.

Bummer. Pm me for a donation.
