Make ALL Cars Standard and Fully Modifiable

I don't get the "Premium" and "Non-Premium" cars. There is no particular rhyme or reason as to why one car is considered one or the other. PD needs to just simplify and get rid of the stupid classification and allow ALL the cars to be modified to the hilt. If this is supposed to simulate "real driving", then ANY car that can be driven can be modified in the real world, so why not in the game?

In addition, there need to be more available modifications to the cars. This means more options of Aero Kits, Wing types, Rims, and Accessories. The ability to "Race Modify" some cars would be nice as well.

Granted, there are a great deal more bugs and problems I have with the game, but this seems to be the worst in my opinion. I can only attribute this to laziness on the part of PD, especially since most of the cars were already prepared and rendered from GT5. Therefore, you cannot base it from the deadline of getting the work done.

"Laziness", because as we know, it takes so little to model a car in full detail. Just a couple of months of work at best.

Could you please further elaborate? All the "Premium" cars that were in GT5 are in GT6, and I'm quite sure 99% of them retained their modifications or gained new ones.

Yes, all the cars that were came over with the mods available, yet there were others even that were considered "Premium" as well, yet were not able to be modified in 5 and now in 6 as well.

That may have to do with licensing. Not all manufacturers are too happy with their cars being modded, and besides, Polyphony seems to make a policy of not allowing you to mod concept cars and race cars.

The physics that apply to "Premium" cars also applied to "Standard" cars. Apart from cosmetic differences, standard cars don't detract from "real driving simulation". Frankly I'm amazed that 110 people were able to render the 400 or so premium cars that are in the game already.

We don't know how the team is divvied up, unless you saw that number quoted in an article, in which case I'm glad they're focusing so much talent on the cars. But there are a lot of tasks involved in bringing an HD Gran Turismo game to life. Keep in mind also that the team is in quite a state of flux right now, and not only have some of the modeling team been working on Premium cars and tracks, but upgrading a number of Standard cars too, some of which look amazing. And Premium tracks take as long as two man years to build. Just imagine all the work modeling and texturing Rome, Madrid or Andalucia! Plus, more cars and tracks are coming.

If that wasn't enough, a portion of all the teams have been working on GT7! I have a feeling that Kaz doesn't want to give people much room to complain when they migrate to that epically more powerful hardware, so even a proper damage build may make an appearance at last. That game is going to take some work to accomplish what Kaz is dreaming, such as that damage build, probably making all cars and tracks Premium, Race Mod and a Livery Editor, etc, so it's highly possible most of the team has moved on to that project. At the same time though, some of that work can benefit us, such as DLC cars and tracks.

Maybe. I can add performance parts to a number of race cars and tuners. Concept cars, no. Apparently you can't even paint them. But keep in mind that GT2 allowed you to Race Mod most of the cars in the list. And in GT5 and 6, you could add bodykit options to most Premiums, and at least rear wings to most of the cars. I think mostly, it's a matter of prioritizing features to work on.

I agree with the OP though, I want to Race Mod and add custom liveries of some kind to my cars, about all of them. Might have to wait for GT7 for that, but I'm hopeful we'll get something in 6.

I went to school for 3D graphics and animation about 10 years ago and the software today makes it so much easier now. Any processes they have in place now can do so much better than what we've been given.
As for the licencing, that seems fair enough of an answer and hadn't even thought of it. However, that part is typically only used for the vehicles themselves and the brand logo and I wouldn't think any companies would bat an eye for any modifications made on a video game. It gives people an idea of what the car could potentially look like and could even increase sales of certain models to those who would like to do such a mod in real life. Look at the actual cars that are now being produced because of the "GT Vision" project. Because of GT, several car models have become more desirable and cars that were not available in the U.S. before are now here, such as the Nissan GT-R.
In short, I would be surprised if mods not being available has anything to do with individual auto companies.

We do not need Race Modifications; all we need is a vaguely simple livery editor (see Grid 2/MotorStorm) and aero parts that actually produce downforce. Bolting a splitter and canards onto the front of a car should have an effect on handling, but no, not in PD's world.

Actually, in PD's world fitting aero parts HAS an effect, on top speed at least, but I'm quite sure my NSX started to act a lot better on corners when I fitted it with a floorpan too.

Yes, flat floors and rear wings have an effect, but splitters distinctly don't when they should.
