Since the AI looks to be remaining in it's current uninspiring state,
I've done a few things to make seasonals and Aspec more challenging for me.
This had probably been brought up before but with the current predictable seasonal schedule I thought bears revisiting.
1. No hitting or contact with AI cars.
2. No going off course-not just to pass but any time.
3. No tire upgrade over AI cars. Generally try to run the default tires.
4. No or very limited performance mods. I try to only use stock vehicles. Maybe some minor power upgrades if the AI just runs away (some Aspecs are like that) No suspension/tranny upgrades.
5. Only aids being ABS1.
Now it would be more challenging without ABS or oil changes but I'm not that hardcore yet!
I did a couple runs on the latest Nurb seasonal and found it to be pretty challenging with those parameters. Used the new R35 TC to win but I'll try some more race cars for fun.
A while back I started a new account to go thru Aspec again using the same guidelines. The first time I had just gotten the game and rushed thru just to get the prize cars! And with aids on as I was just getting my feet wet and driving recklessly to boot. I have only gotten through a couple levels but some have been pretty challenging. The Vitz race @Fugi has been the best challenge! Others that are too easy I'll downgrade the tires. Any contact or going off course at all doesn't count. I've saved replays of the clean runs for posterity. (nerd)
There was a thread a while back called Immaculate Challenges that prompting me to think about restarting Aspec this way. Doing some WRS TT's where clean runs are a must was also an inspiration. It's been a very good way for me to learn better car control as well as getting to enjoy the cars in stock form.
