Hi everyone. I'm new here. I play both Gran Turismo and Gran Turismo 2.

Anyway, i've just obtained my International-B licence yesterday and using my tuned 1993 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4, I won the 1980's Sports Car Cup, Tahiti road and got $10,000 plus this really strange-looking Nissan Skyline R30 Sillhouette Formula car and since I won the same race four more times, I had five of these awesome cars. So I sold the red ones and just kept one blue one. Guess what? Now i've just gained half a million dollars!

Try this for yourself. Just make sure your car is set a few horsepowers below the 300HP limit and you should be fine. If you're driving a rear-wheel-drive car then make sure you don't spin out. Also, understeer shouldn't be a major problem on this race-track since there are lots of walls to smash into and there's no huge muddy areas either. The other cars usually turn very slowly through the corners and therefore, you should easily come first.

It only took me 15 minutes to complete five races and with this much money, I don't know what to do. Anyone have any suggestions? What do you think of this idea?

I think using a 3000 GT VR4 with close to 300 hp is overkill. Not only that, but you're apparently bashing into walls to help you with your wins, and haven't really mastered GT2 racing yet. Are you ready for a challenge? Try the race again in an '86 MR2 with about 240 horses, sports tires and sports suspension, no more wall-bashing, no more car-bashing, either. This should be a race to remember, not just another opportunity for money...or you can ignore my advice and keep garnering yourself easy win after easy win. Money is ridiculously easy to come by in GT2, even with the mandatory horsepower limits. The real fun in GT2 is discovering the lesser cars and learning how they drive, and how to win with them. I'd leave the VR4 for heavier races like the GT regionals and World Cup.

Hey welcome to GTplanet. Sorry if i came across kinda harsh.

Gran Turismo All Stars, Red Rock Valley race, 5 laps; I can't remember how many credits you get for winning (50,000 I think), but you win the TVR Speed 12, which you can sell for 500,000. A race takes about 7 minutes; in quarter of an hour you can win 1,100,000 credits. You can win it using the Ford GT40 race car which you can win in the Red Rock Valley race, I think, in the Mid-engined Challenge.

Welcome to GTP!

If you want the victory quickly in that race, then, use the Escudo Pike Peaks ;)

If you win the GT40, then use it to win the Speed 12, you have only a small cash outlay.

Alternatively, you can win all the licenses. If you happen to be a gold freak (I'm not), you'll win the Spoon S2000 for the A license. Then you can take it to the Trial Mountain enduro (It's about 45 min). You'll win the Denso Sard Supra, which will also win at Red Rock Valley with relative ease.

Then you have no cash outlay at all.

You could, but you have to buy it in the first place (I seem to remember it being a 2 million credit car?) and that kinda defeats the point of a get-rich-quick scheme.

I haven't played GT2 for years; this is just what I remember from the time I spent playing it.

Even better.

Myself, I could never be bothered to gold everything first - always bronze (at least) all the licenses, then work through the game, then go back and try to get all gold whilst I'm waiting for the next GT to come out.

I didn't bother with golds till my third or fourth time thru the game.
And then only to get the Spoon S2000.
As an interesting footnote:
Now that we have GT3 and GT4, go back to GT2 and give the license tests a shot. You will be amazed at how much your skills have grown.👍
You will score at least silvers with relative ease on most tests.

It's true. I have a tough time getting bronze medals nowadays...some of those Golds are still pretty evil, tho.:scared:

Thanks for the constructive feedback. I was assuming that everyone here were just beginners and didn't know a thing about Gran Turismo. As for your challenge, i'll keep you guys updated on the results. Should be easy enough though, as long as it isn't a Dodge Viper or a Diahatshu Midget. Also, i'm racing on the GT Regionals and World Cup right now. Although, i'm using the 1999 Nissan Unisia Skyline GT-R instead. I finally got my International A licence! Yay!

By the way, thanks to everyone else who also replied to this thread. I appreciated the warm welcomes.

Anyway, cheers.

I think most of us who regularly post here are intermediates, which means they're reasonably good at controlling most cars and can win without resorting to bashing and other tricks. I don't consider myself an expert (to me an expert can attain a gold license anytime anywhere anyplace and can also get super-low lap times comparable with the best of the best). But I can definitely help you if you ever need it. I'm GT2-obsessed!

Save up for a new Nissan Skyline GT-R, tune it all the way to its 774 H.P. Limit, racing slick tires, enter it in the turbo race at the test course all the way at the end of the special events. You will get $50,000 for the race and once in a while you will win the Skyline dragster which is worth $250,000.

Again this is overkill. you can do the same exact race in a lesser car with much less power than 774. I recently used a Jaguar XJ Sport with just 500+ hp. Even if the drag car enters in the race, it has to slow down before the turns. You can draft it down the straight then sling-shot by it in the turn, using no brakes!

he's right. on gt2 i passed every license first go.

also, here's a useful trick: gt4 is so far ahead of even gt3 that i'll bet money that any one of you who haven't played gt3 in a few years could go back into it now and get at least an easy bronze or silver - after familiarising yourself with the test layout of course.

I always get bronze or silver first try unless I'm eating pizza and some of the tomato sauce slimes its way down my arm... ewww

Not necessarily true on the licenses for people like me. After playing GT4 with 8 golds and 28 silvers, I *still* can't pass IA-8 on GT3; best I ever did was about 2 1/2 seconds off the bronze time. Needless to say I didn't get very far with that game.

Is that the test with the GT-one Toyota a Cote d' Azur?
If it is the "cheat" is to go to manual shifting, keep the car in third gear.
Then it won't spin wheels when it's coming "out of the hole" and it won't get sideways in the turns.
You will, however, still be fast enough to pass the test.

No, it's that stupid thing on Complex Course with the 270 degree left, then the 270 degree right on a little smaller radius, then a 270 left tighter yet, etc. One of those idiot tests with little connection to real racing. But thanks for the advice.

Don't bother with that. Go to the GT Allstars races, choose Red Rock Valley and enter it with the Nissan Skyline R30 Sillhouett Formula. When you have won the race, sell the TVR Speed 12, tadaaa, you've earned yourself 550,000 in last then 6 minutes.

I'm going to thank all of you for this info.
I am currently going back to GT2 when I get home, as many here brought back fond memories. GT2 is without a doubt, the best out of the 4.

You made the right choice!

When i initiate the game i buy one PRELUDE, tune it up basic and win 80'S gaining the SKYLINE SILHOUETTE FOUMULA, take this SKYLINE, adjust the settings, put a SUPER SOFT TIRES, and WIN the the RED ROCK VALLEY track and sold the TVR SPEED 12 to gain money.... normally win this race with this car is very easy, the stability of this car is incredible, and stopping too.... well i like this car.

sorry for my really bad English......

If you are using the DS2 instead of a wheel:
Set the accelerator/brake to the right sitck. It has enough range of movement that you can be on the gas, just a little when called for.
My current set for GT4 has the brake on L1 so that I can be on the gas and brake at the same time. It has enhance the heck out of my car control.

Sorry to bring back the dead here, but just tested an idea to get that Speed 12 on your third day of racing without entering out of class cars where they don't belong (ie the 90's preludes in the 80's sports car races.)

Start with the Silvia K's 1800cc '88, checking for one under $3,800 after each license test, though $4,200 will do just as well really. Add the carbon driveshaft and weight reduction 1 and the best flywheel you can while saving $1,000. Now your first race is the first 80's sports car event. Should be close, but definitely winnable. Sell the Mugen Ferio and you should have $13,500+. Put on a turbo-2 and go win the last 80's sports car event at tahiti, should be easy if you've got at least modest skills, even without wall bashing. Now you have that Skyline that can take the All Stars at Red Rock on day 3, and there you go. Fastest way I can figure to get to the Speed 12 while keeping your races in class.

I'm sure there are other 3-day strategies that would work too, I just wanted to demonstrate that there was at least one way to do this that was fairly easy. I remember how long it took me the first times I played GT2 to get anywhere close to getting access to real money, and when I searched for advice I heard a lot about the Special Event Generator, free cars from Golds to get you started, and strategies which involved at least a dozen races and tune-ups before going for the Speed 12. I think my method here is by far the easiest way I've heard to get fast cash, and I like its aesthetic of racing the '88 model in the 80's races to get there, too!

Edit: Looked at some more cars, first a bunch which theoretically can be got for $10K or less (apparently the game allows at least +/-36% variation on used car prices, so I guess even a car valued at $14K could be found for $10K.) In reality I just looked at the cars which would be at $10K with only a 10% discount. In order to discover the base value of a used car, you have to buy it and check its resale value and multiply by four, so the RX-7 Infini which can be sold back for $2,525 has a base value of $10,100. Then I started a new game to see what cars actually show up on day 1, and again on day 10 in case you're puttering around with license tests and still haven't bought your first car.

So, among the cars which actually appear on day 1, there are several bargains among the best performers (rounded up to nearest $100):

*Supra TwinturboR '91 for $9,500 is the strongest car available and unmodified can win a lot of races, including 80's-5 for the Silhouette, but it will be tough to control especially if you're actually new to GT2.
*RX-7 Infini III '90 for $8,900 can take a racing flywheel and do almost as well but will be easier to handle, highly recommended.
*Skyline GTS-t '91 for $7300 will get weight reduction 1 and flywheel-3 and do very well and is the best Skyline option.
*RX-7 GT-X '90 for $6,600 will take WR-1, Fly-2, and muff-1 and do very well and handle easily.
*Prelude 2.2 VTEC '91 for $6,000 will take WR-1, Fly-3, and muff-1 to be your best FF choice by far.
*Supra Turbo '93 for $6,100 isn't the best bargain but will still show a lot of power and with WR-1, Fly-3, and muff-1 will be one of the strongest cars in this group.
Celica GT-R '91 for $4,100 is another decent FF at a great price and with room for upgrades.
Infiniti '90 for $3,900 won't disappoint you and is super cheap to upgrade.
*Silvia K's 1800cc '88 for $4,100 will take turbo-1 and fly-3 to be probably the strongest option available with both power and easy handling, 80's-5 definitely winnable!
CR-X VTEC '91 for $6,200 isn't the best bargain but is easy to handle and will get you winning quick.
Mazda 323 GT-X '92 for $4,700 is a 4WD option that won't break the bank though it's not the best performer of this group.

If you wait til day 10 to buy, you'll lose some options but others will open up:

Civic Si '93 for $8,500 is one of the best FF's in the game, slap a fly-3 on and all 295hp races are within reach.
*Silvia K's 2000cc '91 for $7,300 is another one of the strongest options available and with a longer potential career than the 1800cc.
better price on the Prelude 2.2, $5,600.
better price on the Silvia K's 1800cc '88, $3,700.

I've seen '91's raced by the AI at the 80's races regularly, so should be a legit 2 day strategy to get the Speed 12 to take the Supra Twinturbo, Infini III, GTS-t, RX-7 GT-X, or Silvia K's 1800cc '88 to 80's-5 tahiti for a day 1 (of racing anyway, after licenses) win for the Silhouette and then go to All-Stars 3 Red Rock for day 2 Speed 12 and $550,000 total after you sell it. Could probably also win at tahiti with the Prelude, though it would be the most challenging car available to try this with. At least in the Twinturbo when you fishtail and spin out you know you'll catch back up on the next straight with your 276hp... Supra '93 will also win at tahiti but isn't an 80's sports car, so...

Come on, keep a Silhouette Formula and do the GT All Stars Red Rock Valley race over and over. Haven't you heard of the Speed 12?
