I have some questions to ask for those who know alot about Computers and what not. I have alot of F1 races on tape...from 2000 till 2004. And well here's my questions(s):

1) What hardware do I need to transfer the video's from those tapes to my computer?

2) What software is there that I can use to edit out stuff from the tapes once they are on the PC?

3) What is a good burner to burn them into DVD Format?

Is this even possible? Any sites out there cover this?

Hardware. A TV capture card should do you fine. Although, getting an All-In-Wonder video card from ATI is your best bet (you can do all sorts of crazy stuff with it) . You will never have to buy any more adaptors whatsoever (At least that's been my experience) once you have this card.

Software - You can probably use freeware like Windows Movie Maker 2.0 to edit stuff. Fairly easy to use, and the good thing is, it's free!

Just stick with a good, reputable brand for DVD burners and you should do fine. Since dual layering can store up to twice the data compared to a normal DVD, get a burner that can support dual layering. (The discs for them are still quite rare... I haven't seen one at my local computer store yet.)

It is possible and I have done it many times. I have an All - In - Wonder card and I have never had to buy any adapter's ever. My computer came with software, but I don't know if I would go right to using Windows Movie Maker. WMM will cut large clips into smaller clips and then you have to put them back together again. Also, from my experience, when it splits the clips that are large, it splits it into so many small clips, usually like 10 for an hour video clip, that it won't let you open any other large clip files so you end up merging clips with a mpeg merger or something. My computer came with TV tuner software and movie editing software so I really don't know what to recommend. You can always try Windows Movie Maker. I use Sony DVD burner's and they always work well. I have also created VCD's and they always have good quality too.

Sorry I coudnt respond faster....but hey thank so much both of you for the info...I really appreciate it!!! thanks alot!!
