The historic Mallory Park circuit in Leicestershire has entered administration. This means that the circuit, which has been open since 1956, could close down. Noise complaints have risen significantly in the last 15 years and after being fined, the circuit is really struggling.

If it does close, I hope the residents of Kirkby Mallory are happy, because it will lose its only attraction, reducing the chance of tourists. If the circuit has been active since 1956, then only residents who have lived there since before then have any legs to stand on. Most of the people complaining probably moved to the village in the last 20 years. They shouldn't be allowed to submit complaints, as the circuit was there before them. It is clearly sign posted and if they didn't want to live next to a race track, they should move somewhere else, its their fault that they bought a house next to one in the first place.

I'd be very disappointed if Mallory Park were to close down, but didn't they violate some agreement from 1985 relating to noise and the amount of days they are allowed to run?
Don't get me wrong though, my stance is exactly the same as yours on this. I really don't see how people move close to a race track and then get annoyed about hearing race cars. 👎

Any race track entering administration is sad to hear, whether its a world famous FIA grade 1 or local airfield with a few cones stuck around.

I'm with your stance on the residents. It's their own fault that they moved there. I've never been there myself but would be sad to see it go.

Pretty irrelevant to the local area I think, Kirkby Mallory doesn't exist for tourism, it's most likely populated by people work in Hinckley or Leicester. Who makes money out of Mallory being there... the local shop? the pub? And lets be honest, Mallory won't have the foot fall / attraction that most of the main (ie. BTCC tracks have).

Don't get me wrong it's a shame, and I'm with you on the complaints, and I don't want any circuit to close down. But if it's a viable business proposition then it should be able to recover - I believe they were on about removing the hairpin (the most interesting part of the track) to help with the noise problem, so for instance I'm thinking MSV would buy it and spend the money that would be necessary to keep the Mallory residents group from whinging.
