Mandatory Skid Recovery Force is Ruining Career Mode

Yeah, I don't think it'll be addressed. In GT5 it was even worse with the NASCAR event with mandatory ASM slowing you down at every steering angle other than centered

Same problem for me. I have no interest in running license tests or online TT's using SRF. I don't want to play with unrealistic physics and learn how to exploit the system and then find that it messes up my sense of where the limits lie using zero assists/real settings.

Having done the license tests using SRF and abusing it to go faster, I don't like it one bit. It actively encourages bad driving and effectively teaches you physics that don't apply on this planet.

You could argue that SRF is ruining the Special Events, but it has no real effect on the career part.

It affects the licenses though.

Much as I'd dislike it because it's an uneven playing field I don't really approve, I wish they'd let us play the seasonals without SRF. Obviously we'd be slower than those using it but I could live with that (although as a half-way compromise why they can't create an event with and without SRF is mind-boggling) but as I say it's a fundamentally game-play breaking issue for me and I don't like SRF.

It sucks that the licenses are easy now, but the forced SRF in them really means they have zero replayability to me.

SRF in a nutshell.

Steam into corner too hot gaining time, steer ultra aggressive like I do when trying to drift (n.b I cant drift at all) lose grip and then suddenly regain it, and floor the throttle. Well done you just set a PR... whereas what you should have done is either be eating gravel sandwich or be taking a stupidly wide line through the turn.

For a game that gives you lessons on driving theory in the preamble to the test, it does it's best to make that irrelevant in practice.

HEY!
The only things that lock SRF on, are the ones that are supposed to "test your mettle".

It's not that funny, it's retarded too.

One event really throws me off is the Willow Spring C7 Driving Mission, the car would be pushing than all of a sudden be turning again....so around that long corner at the end the car is just doing this weird push/drift/push/drift thing....completely screws with your instinct on how to drive the damn thing....

There should be two versions of gt one for children with srf and one for us without the force, I'm not Luke, I don't want the force to be with me lol

SRF just makes all the cars handle bad when you try and push, I don't even know why they added it. If ABS, TC and ASM can't keep you on the track, are you holding the controller upside down?

As far as the license tests go, in GT5 they were like a badge or trophy.
But in GT6 they serve as skill assessment barriers to the next levels.

I am in complete agreement that forced SRF + the inability to use 0 ABS (no way to alter BB in-event)...
...make for a less than-satisfactory License test experience.

That being said, I also know that not everyone who does GT6 has a wheel like I do.
A choice would be nice for those of us with the equipment/patience/skills to not use them.

But if they make the barriers too high...
...the Sunday/casual drivers will be spraying bovine 🤬 all over the forum's threads.

Same game, but expectations will vary from person to person. :)

I have never moaned about the technical aspects of the game on these forums. The sounds, graphics and physics may have their shortcomings but I know the designers and coders will have been working their butts off getting the best they can out of limited hardware to impossible deadlines. But forcing us to use srf is a stupid marketing decision by stupid marketing people and it is one thing that really pisses me off. Just let those of us who don't want it turn it off. It's just a switch! I don't know what to do now. In GT5 I just avoided events with forced srf but it looks like in GT6 I'll have to do them to progress in the game. I guess I'll just have to grit my teeth and get them over with as quickly as possible. This is not what I bought the game for.

Well, you can say the same for the "ABS" (so-called ABS).

ABS at "loan cars" (Goodwood, Missions, Licenses..) can be disabled, but game does not allow us to change the braking strength-bias upon disabling which leaves the default 5-5 value (front/rear) and makes cars impossible to drive.

Both SRF and ABS without BB adjustment are wrong.

They should both be optional for those willing to take the time and effort to master both in process.

100% agree, SRF is really bad.
If they want it ON as default to make it easy for newcomers OK, but it should at least be possible to switch it off (like TC and all the other aids)

It would harm nobody and would be a huge gift for everyone who want to enjoy the improved realism.

I would like it required off for any gold medals, but this will not happen.

BUT:
The SRF is the worst gameplay issue of this game. Please PD fix it!!!!

This is not true for me, as it only messes up licenses, missions and Goodwood.
So maybe 20% of the career mode ? Even less if you consider that you only get money once for those events, while you will do some races multiple times to get money. (Also you spent little time on them because they are so easy you do gold on 2nd attempt on 90% of them)

Biggest gameplay issue by far is the AI gifting you every win by slowing down till you pass them.
I would understand it a little bit if the only would slow down till you katch up to about 2sec. behind them and then continue with 100%. But they solw dow more and more and more untill you actually overtake them.

THIS destroys the career mode !

It is not really impossible to drive, just adjust to different brake input. ABS Off in licenses seems quite competitive, last license I completed, I managed to top my friends ranking list with relative ease.

What I find is ruining the game is lack of difficulty, previous GT games had a lot of that. So far in GT6, coffee break challenges has been most puzzling. It is like PD did not even bother, Gold times are probably like Bronze Times of previous games for the most part.

Of course, if SRF was an option for leader-boarded events, it would render the leaderboards meaningless because those who chose to use SRF would migrate higher in the rankings than their talents justify. So it makes sense to lock it on or lock it off, one or the other. I'd say the same about other aids but they don't seem to have as big an effect. Solution as I see it is to do what pro drivers do and drive to the level of grip available.

I'll probably play around with ABS=0 in GT6 but to now in it and GT5 have always used ABS=1, for two reasons. One, the brake pedal on the DFGT is a pretty blunt instrument, feel-wise, and two, ABS is near-standard in the real world these days so it's entirely appropriate to use it on many of the cars in the game.

Edit: It should be noted that Malcolm Tucker didn't use a single profanity in his post. He's getting soft now that he's out of power.
