Manual or Automatic transmission during Sunday night league races?

In an attempt to improve, I've been studying the replays from D1 races and comparing the fastest drivers' technique against my own. In doing so, I noticed something surprising - at least to me - drivers using an automatic transmission instead of manual. This got me to wondering:

1. how many in the league use the automatic vs manual transmission?
2. is there an advantage to using the automatic transmission vs the manual that I'm not aware of?
   

So, would you please participate in my poll? If you don't mind, if you do use the automatic transmission please explain why.

Do not pay any attention to the AT/MT in replays, it is inaccurate.

I don't know everybody personally, so anyone can feel free to correct me; but they're running manual transmission.

Good to know. Sometimes when watching replays for stewarding I noticed this also. I was like…wow he uses AT? Knowing it’s a bug makes me rest easier.

I for one use the li'l floppy things behind the wheel. If the revs get high and I start to slow down ( or drop back, LOL) than I touch them. I wonder if automatic is better now that you ask?
