Manufacturer races/events- Which models would you want featured?

Ask me, man.
Remember GT4? Remember entering a dealership and having model-specific races to participate in? Unfortunately, they didn't appear in great numbers in GT5 (Gallardo Trophy comes to mind but it was an A-spec race.)

Which manufacturers would you like to see have model-specific events and which models would you want to see featured? Should these races even return?

I really liked the Subaru Events back in GT4 because when you had the correct car the AI were really competitive with your car

As many as possible, simple as that. There is no excuse not to, events as code take up a tiny amount of disk space. Neither do the menus.

If GT6 doesn't have at least the same amount of offline races as GT4 something is seriously wrong with PD.

I agree, as many as possible. But they have to be done right. There were many points in GT4 where it felt like I was ripping through the game just to complete it without ever enjoying myself. GT4 had alot of events, but some of them were stupid or too easy. Like the Easy/Medium/Hard rally races. So repetitive and not fun at all. Quantity over quality.

Quantity and quality can be achieved, but in order to do so PD has to put some effort into it, and I wonder if they will. GT5's forsaken A-Spec mode had to be thrown together in a couple of hours.

On topic Corvette Conqueror what exactly do you mean by manufacturer events? Are these model specific, like say Audi R8s only, or are they manufacturer specific where you can enter any Audi?

Model specific.

I'd love these too. To me it's real test of skill (with hp and weight restrictions).

Absolutely agree there, there has to be a balance. Following on from what was said in the other event thread, absolutely all model/manufacturer races MUST be competitive. Every car must be pretty much equal, like a real race series with specific models.

We don't need for example a Ferrari race with Enzo's at the front and 512BBs brining up the rear with no hope of winning. Or a Skyline race with the R35's at the front and a stock 1500 Deluxe at the back.

For a Ferrari manufacturer race you could have

5x F355
5x F430
5x F458

Or you could have

5x F40
5x F50
5x F60

Why not have both as Ferrari Manufacturer events?

In some instances an entire fleet of the same car might be the best way to go.

Practice, qualifying, good AI, and strict performance limitations should also help make the racing better.

Well, an Enzo Ferrari would devour an F40, and a 458 would destroy a 355, but sometimes you have to have backmarkers, that's normal in racing. As long as there is some competitiveness at the front, it works. There needs to be a balance between good racing and diversity; manufacturer events are also, in a way, parades to advertise the brand. Having different cars involved, even though some may not be so competitive, is good.

For example, a race series for V8 Ferraris that consists of 288 GTO, 355, 360 CS, 430, 430 Scud and 458, the Scud and 458 would walk away with it every time, but if there's 3 AI of each, it's not that big of a deal since there would be 6 competitive AI for you to race with.

The alternative to accepting backmarkers is to have PD upgrade backmarkers and create parity. I don't how I feel about that, I think I'd prefer racing against stock cars (for the most part) in manufacturer events.
----------------------
I like to have a nice variety in "manufacturer" events, some being a single car, a single model, a series of models within a brand (ex. Type R Honda, Ferrari Classics, BMW Ms, Mazda rotaries) or an entire Brand/Manufacturer. I think PD would have to make the right choice and pick the right format on a case-by-case basis. For example, for Subaru the entire brand works best as Imprezas and Legacies are fairly evenly matched, for Mistubishi, a race for Lancer Evos makes sense since they are well matched as well, sometimes you only have one car model to race with, so all cars are the same. PD did this fairly well in GT4.

If they're going to mix cars they need to have an AI upgrade system like the other game so they're all on the same PP, or close to it.

Because I see no logic whatsoever in basically having different classes in the same race with no class system actually in place. I don't think adding a class system is beneficial for these sorts of races but it certainly is for A-Spec GT/LMP races. But that's the other topic.

The Enzo and F50 would be quicker then the F40 but I dont have that much of a problem with it because they all belong to the same "family" of cars, the F40, F50, and F60, they're only from different generations.

For example in a Corvette manufacturer race instead of having 16 C6 models why not throw in a few C4s and C5s to liven it up? The variety gives homage to the history of the Corvette Brand. Now I'm against there being any 1950s C1 Corvettes of course as they would be far too slow. They could have their own manufacturer race, between the C1, C2, and C3.

I'm totally against PD adjusting the cars to create fictional parity. 4 or 5 competitive cars would be a massive upgrade over previous GT races which usually only have 1 competitive car, the rabbit. Theres usually only 4 or 5 competitive cars in a real race, anyway. A pack of 15 AI cars running within 2 seconds for an entire race would be kind of silly anyway.

Oh and prize cars. Looking over the prize cars given in GT4 I like how they gave out classic models for beating each manufacturer race. Beating a Corvette only race should win you a Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (C1) ’54. Winning a Ford GT one make race should win you the Ford GT Concept '02

Off topic I know, but my opinion on multi class racing is that it should only exist in endurance races where overtaking back markers is part of the challenge and allure. Thats why I believe any race outside enduros should feature either a full field of LMP cars or a full field of GT cars. Theres no point in mixing them in a non endurance race. You can give your ideas on this should be done in the "Race ideas" thread, its still on the 1st page.

I'm pretty much in agreement with all you said here.

Disagree there, well to a point. 2 seconds is obviously very close but generally I want to see the entire pack racing together, yes.

I see what you're saying about fictional parity but remember upgrading is what the game is about. If it's a one make series then for sure run everything stock but if it's a general event like the Corvette example then why not have the cars upgraded? Then if we finally get the livery editor, they can have liveries as well. You wouldn't turn up to a professional race in real life purposely underpowered, why let the AI do it in GT?

Prize cars were a big let down in GT5, there was no excitement or anticipation because the cars were not exciting and they were all purchasable. They need to go back to exclusive prize cars and as you say, more relevent to the series.

With the inclusion of the WRC rally cars, there ought to be rally events in the next title.

And they could be available right in the dealership.

Plenty, here's just a few...

Honda Civic Race
MX5 Trophy
Skyline R Race
BMW M Trophy
Corvette Festival
Ford GT Challenge
Lotus Challenge
Viper Race

There was a SL55 AMG event in GT5P under Mercedes, that was good fun. 👍

Can they not just port all the GT5P manufacturer events?
