When initially drafting up Maserati's premier supercar, Ferrari made sure the MC12 fell below the coveted Enzo in terms of power and performance, however, one unique example has now smashed this barrier.

Edo Karabegovic is responsible for tuning some of the fastest cars ever made. Financed from the deep pockets of an enthusiastic owner, he now has his name splashed across a heavily modified a MC12; a car which many purists consider too sacred to personalize.

Edo is no newcomer to high-end tuning, his 911 conversion blew the socks off the Carrera GT's lap record around the famed Nürburgring. When considering the MC12 he said: "only the doors and the windows were right; everything else was absolute s**t". Edo was referring to the restricted power and limited aerodynamic abilities of the original car below 150 mph. These faults were a result of racing regulations that forced the homologated MC12 be outfitted like its race equivalent. Edo's mission was to fix these problems and create an MC12 in his own way.

The MC 12XX by Edo Competition features a 6.3-liter V12 engine with 800 hp.

Modifications:

• power increase 170 hp – contains new steel cylinder and piston, bored to 6.3 liters (same as Ferrari FXX ), new camshafts, new titan valve springs, new titan connecting rods, new oil cooling piston pipes, new exhaust manifolds, sport catalytic stainless, sport catalytic converter, sport air filter, air-ram system, fuel cooling system, new clutch, all bearings new, new oil pump, new gaskets, and dyno running wîth all work.

• sport catalytic converter stainless wîth two level switch controlled sound system, new tail pipes in carbon.

• volume of the exhaust per button push adjustable.

• ceramic sport break system wîth 396 mm brake disc front and 360 mm brake disc rear, special brake pads in front and rear l/i.

• wheels can be painted in different designs.

• tire-air-pressure control system shows pressure and temperature per wheel.

• headlamp-cover hand made form makrolon.

• design modification outside for example complete different color.

• independently adjustable dumping technology – rebound and compression dumping like FIA – GT MC12
air-in-take from carbon.

• 100 kg reduced weight.

• new racing wheels front 10 x 19 wîth 265/35 ZR19 Michelin, rear 13 x 20 wîth 335/30 ZR20 Michelin.

The Maserati MC12 is on my Top 10 Cars and I would pick the stock version over this. However, what Edo has done to the power and weight is very impressive so it certainly gets a Like.

It's amazing how often tuning companies work wonders on the tech but make the car immeasurably ugly. Just look at the horrific mutilation Edo performed on this!!!

Tuning? Modified?

Does that mean that this should be listed as a Maserati then, since it's a tuned/modified Maserati and not an "Edo"?

Uuh... Nope? Since Gran Turismo don't put the modified/tuned cars under the name of the original manufacturer.
