I've seen the Max Drive out there for use with the PS2 as a way to export files to your computer. I was wondering if any other USB drives would work with the PS2, and how much they might cost.
Thanks

I heard that only the offical one can be used and the ones for PS2 I think someone here said that you coulndt use your old one for PS2 its not compatable or something. It might have been on TV where I saw this.

I have the Max Drive and have been using it for my replays, works fine. You can convert the .max save to .xps and vice versa using the conversion program that's around the net. Since it's the same price as a mem card, you can't really beat the price for limitless storage.

I don't know of any other USB drives that are compatible with the PS2 yet.

You want to pass your save files to your computer? You can do that using the Network Adaptor if you have one.

I need to do this too, I have too many files in my MC that I can not erase (damn that Killzone 3mb´s update). I should do it this afternoon when I get home, and if you´re interested I can post a tutorial here later.

Whoa ... whoa whoa whoa. How do you go about moving save files to the computer with the network adaptor? It's definitely not built into the PS2 software / hardware. Are you saying with the Max Drive software it is possible?

I don´t know what this Max Drive software is or what it does, but you don´t need that. All you need is a Network Adaptor, a rj45 network cable (I guess this is the crossover cable I use to connect my ps2 to my pc), and some programs you need to download. Oh, and a modded ps2 also.

I haven´t tried this myself, I know a tutorial that explains all the process, but some links are broken and I´m waiting for the moderator of that forum to fix them. I would post a link to it here, but it´s in Portuguese. Unless you want to try some Altavista on it.

OOoohhh, just a moded PS2. Right. And you've never done it, and you don't have the information on how to do it.

Well then back to gaming.

I've tried to convert some .xps files to .max using two different conversion programs I found on the net (acple.com) and another unnamed. Both convert, but always corrupt and the new .max file is useless. Which one are you using as I have a lot of .xps files I'd like to convert and use with my max drive.

Is that the same software that allows you to set up your ps2 as an FTP as well? Or the one that allows you to transfer games to the HDD via the network? because I actually got my PS2 working online yesterday through me router and it worked flawlessly which I wasn't expecting to be honest. Heh, I should check ps2ownz.com.

Here's a link to the converter I use. Just be aware that if you try to play replays from the PAL system on your NTSC machine, it's not going to work.
