If this works...

While the Playstation 3 natively supports Logitech’s range of steering wheels, Xbox 360 owners are restricted to a slim choice of compatible devices.

From watching the video I cant see any FF being sent to the wheel. If you watch the rim close there is no movement at all. There should atleast be a little bit you can see. Also not a single peep from the wheel. We all know the logitech wheels arent silent when they are being used. I would be a bit skeptical about this thing.

Unless something has changed... The FFB commands necessary for wheel use are not sent over the USB connection, only wireless. If it's simply emulating a controller, then no FFB beyond rumble.

The lag doesn't look too bad though, which is better than the previous solution.

It is a controller emulator, their instructions say so. That also means there'll be a big, big deadzone. My 360 controller has a huge amount of slop in the sticks, for PC games I have to set a deadzone of about 20-25%, yet it's no problem on my 360 so there must be a built-in deadzone of about that much already.

If anyone actually wants to make this happen, they need to buy someone's "broken" old Fanatec wheel, take the main board out and go from there.

Yah they could go the route of Frex and instead of using an official xbox pad you use the guts of a Fanatec wheel.

Unless you were suggesting to reverse engineer the hardware and crack Microsoft's wireless encryption.

The hardware could just skip the deadzone but they probably won't.

No, I meant what you thought originally. Or, I suppose technically you could just remove the Infineon wireless module from it and put it on your own board... Then read the keys for it from Fanatec's firmware and go from there.

What about an old XBox wheel? This is similar to what I did with an old RockBand drum to use a USB-to-Midi controller on a Roland V-drum. I could play RockBand with a proper electronic kit and not the funky plastic "thingy" :D

It's the proprietary XBox controller chip that is a tough work around, maybe using the one out of the XBox wheel would get us part of the way there... I have one by the way :)
