Maybe the 1000 ticket is not completely random?

I'm starting to think that a 1000 ticket may have a reasonable chance to give you a car you do not already own. My reasoning for thinking this is that today in 1 hour I went through about 15 save/restore iterations to cash in 3 level 1000 tickets. I had 953 car models when I started so there was a less than an 8% chance of getting a car I did not own but I pulled 3 unowned cars making it a 20% rate. I've always seemed to be able to get a model I didn't own with a 1000 ticket within 30 minutes in the dozen I've cashed in. I do understand this is a small sample to truly know but I've been luckier than all get out. Does anyone else seem to think that there may be a chance that a 1000 ticket will give you a car you don't own?

I'll got a Citroen 2CV, and i had one from before

Not the point. I'm not saying you can't get dupes. I'm saying I'm seeing my odds of getting cars I don't already have as being higher than they should be. I had a 1 in 18 shot of getting a car I didn't have yet I got 3 in 15.

Without data to prove it I'll go out and say; it is completly random. I opened over 100 ticket 1000's everyday for well over a week. One thing I did notice, once a higher price car pop'd I'd usually see 3 or 4 more within maybe 20 tickets.

Wow that takes dedication to sit there and constantly reload the saved game data

Where are the odds based on? How many tickets have you opened?

I've opened a dozen total in the last 10 days. Ten days ago I only needed 130 cars, most at $500K or more. I've gotten a bunch of very expensive cars that I didn't own, including the 2J.

So is it "completely random" or not completely random? :sly:

IMO 12 tickets is not a large enough sample size to draw that conclusion. Plenty of people are in the same boat as arora. Someone would have cracked the pattern already. Not trying to be rude, just want to put things into perspective.

I agree its too small a sample and I said that up front. I'm also not saying it's a pattern only that the random table seems to me to not merely be a list of nearly all cars but may also have more to it than that. Even Arora talks about maybe it isn't completely random right after saying it is completely random. :D

I've had three or four 1000 tickets and I noticed that when I open one up at first I get a crap car like the Fiat 500 or something like that. It's only after over-writing and rebooting the save multiple times that cool cars show up for me. Most of the cars, even the crap ones, seem to be cars I don't have already but there's been a few times where I already owned a car that the ticket gave me.

I just didn't want you to get your hopes up. Opening tickets is frustrating and annoying and if your just getting the stuff you need I'm very jealous. Pattern was a poor word choice on my part, I understand your theory, but I don't think you will feel the same way after 12 more tickets. I hope for your sake I'm wrong though. :D

I disagree that it's random. I've opened hundreds of them as well and depending on the time of day I could pull the same car 3 out of 15 tries. If I tried it later on the same thing would happen, just with another car.

I hope so too. I only need 11 more standard cars then everything else I need is in the new dealerships. :D http://www.mygranturismo.net/15201

That could be part of the reality that computers really don't generate completely random numbers.

I got the Sauber C9 the other day too which coincidentally was one of the last cars I really wanted. In an odd twist, I got the exact same car two tickets in a row, the exact same model RX7. If it is random, the odds of getting the same model two times in a row are over a million to one.

I think after opening so many tickets everyone becomes a little crazy.

Especially the 1000, it's not the best choice to get a missing car.

Well, I only need 40 more models. I opened 4 tickets this morning. 2 were cars I didn't have. No save/restores used.
