noticed in a Seasonal Event at the Eiger N. Short track during some camera views you get to see closeups of the flowers and weeds being blown back by the wind from passing cars.
I'm thinking thats a pretty silly detail to implement, I hope its only in replay mode.... what do you think? Seems to me it requires coding to have the 'blown' animation coincide with cars passing and that is time perhaps better spent on say enduro saves or better leaderboards, etc ad nauseum

It was the same in Prologue too if memory serves ... I think it's a nice little detail although you're right and there are waaay more important issues!

Yeah, we'll take the graphics/animation designer out of his area of expertise and tell him to add in-race saves and then to work on network coding with the leaderboards.

Then, you might have something worth bitching about when none of that is working right.

There's nothing at all wrong with adding details. Extra details make things better, and making things better helps take an average game and make it great. It's funny that there should be complaints about details like flowers or weeds responding to wind from passing cars but no complaints about extra details in cars; details that are rarely actually seen by the players. And yes, it does require coding to make that little detail take place. Anything and everything the game does is coded in there somewhere.

In Metal Gear Solid 4, I was watching a friend play at the start of the game and he was posing beside a statue. He did something, just goofing around, and broke the penis off of the statue. Of all the stuff I saw of the game, that little detail is the bit that stood out to me. It took someone time to program that to happen, and most players might never have seen it, but little extras like that make a lifeless world come to life.

It's the little things...that make a good game, great.

People seem to think that every feature of the game took resources away from working on some other totally unrelated feature. Someone said that was in Prologue also, so it definitely had nothing to do with features missing from GT5. Even if it were, someone on a environment development team is, in all likelihood, not responsible for anything that is not closely related to the courses in the game.

In-race saving should be a very easy thing to implement. The game just needs to save a ton of things about the current state. All the cars in the race, with their specs, mods, colors. Their physical positions on the track, their positions and lap number in the race, and a few more things. I'd be willing to say that Kaz didn't want it included.

daveygtheone +1!!!!

lol some people will never be happy with the game! there will always be someone somewhere complaining about things! ALWWAAAYSSS!!!!

no that wasnt in gt5p
eric said pretty much everything that needed to b said
:)

Eric. pretty much said it all. How could you not want something amazing like that implemented, anyways? It's like saying that the game has too many shades of yellow so they should only have one shade of yellow and add five more cars. It just doesn't work like that, bud.

Drive a kart off into those flowers, they'll come up 'inside' your kart where there's room.

+1 to all!

People who complain about flowers and little details in GT5 should just go play ToCA or get on iRacing. Some other game in which these little touches aren't included. Nothing wrong with ToCA or iRacing, but GT is (and always has been) not just about a bland, generic racing experience. GT games have always had little touches that add to the overall atmosphere.

Its the little details like that i love about GT. Much better than completely static scenery.

Ahh, its complaining about the little details that makes life worth living. Thise damned pesky details are ruining my gaming experience... every time I watch a replay I think to myself "I must get around to moaning about that, I bet no-one's done that yet."

no one is complaining that there's too much detail, just that at the least its poor management of resources to have such features and not be able to finish the game etc.
pretty much a common sense idea, which as the saying goes isnt so common

You must really like penises if that's all the stood out for you in mgs4!
