Cooly
I don't know why i did this!, I guess i have alot of spare time on my hands. Plus its a cheap and harmless Hobbie. I havent driven the thing for months, I just did this shell for show. But ill give it a spin someday.

This is my project ive worked on for a little while, Im not a very crafty person and this is the first time ive used styrene to make things.

All accessories on the Shell have been made out of styrene and others bibs and bobs around the joint. This includes, Light Buckets (Front and Rear), Front Mount Intercooler, Oil Cooler, Mirrors, etc...
Exhaust and FMIC Pipe were made from various metals.

The HPI RX-8 shell is mounted on top of a slightly modified TT-01 Chassis. With ABS Pipe mounted on the wheels for slippage. Good fun to muck around with.

Pictures.

That's it, ;)

Awesome job with the painting and details! I just bought a C6 Corvette Z06 for my TA-04 R chassie.

excuse the ignorance, but what exactly did you do? The exterior?

I have a friend back home who does a lot of R/C-ing and I told him about this thread... and he's asking.

Yeah..I obviously painted it. Then the Headlight and rear light buckets, intercooler, oil cooler, exhaust were all scratch built by myself. and all mounted onto the shell. It adds next to no weight. Then i deep dished the wheels painted them and added disc brakes. And the shell is mounted by double sided tape at the moment.

Sorry for late reply.

Did you buy a disc brake kit or did you just fab up something to look like discs? I would like to know because I've been trying to figure out the best way to put fake discs on my car.

The Disc Brakes were made from styrene... i then carved lines and holes into them to simulate grooves of sorts. Then Just painted over them with cheap silver spray paint.

Before applying paint i carved a hexagon out of the middle, so i could later on apply them over the top of the spacer behind the wheel. Just so it gets out of the way but can still spin with the wheel.

I havent added calipers yet, Im struggling to find a practical way to mount the calipers around the disc brake so it doesn't spin with them.

funkshen, u can always get yokomo's disc/brake/wheels combo and the fitting should be simple. Just need to remove the hex hub (keep the pin) and u should be good to go.

Funkshen, very cool rx. 👍 The modding turned out well. The photos are impressive as well. Good job.

Is it electric or petrol?
