McLaren F1 GTR Race Car '97--Worth the money?

This car just popped up in the used car dealership for $3.5mill, and I can't find any information about it anywhere. It's not even on this forum's "Master Car List"...

Anyone have any experience with it? Is it better than the Premium F1 at the dealership?

Seems like it would be an amazing car to own...

Any info would be much appreciated!
 
Ah, I see it is filed under BMW in the Apex booklet as well.

But that's besides the point--would still love some opinions on it!

I don't know what your expectations are, but it's a pretty sweet car.
I think it's worth buying.
 
Well, I'm level 26 and I already have the Formula GT and most of the other good cars. I'm pretty much just collecting at this point, so I figure what else am I going to spend my money on?

You can't get this car any other way, so I guess I might as well buy it.

That is some great work there! Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for. An excellent reference point.

Don't listen to all of the haters saying you shouldn't have modified the cars. The modifications in GT5 are so basic and standardized for all cars anyway, it's not like they really aren't "stock" anymore. PD already limits and chooses for you what modifications you are allowed to do on the high-end cars. You can't "ruin" a car. How the cars compare when they are all topped out is most important to me.
 
Thanks :) Yeah, the BMW McLaren F1 GTR may be slightly lacking in straightline performance, but it's amazing in the corners. One of the funnest cars to drive. :D
 
How would it compare to the Mercedes CLK GTR ?
They are both in the same price range.
