OK, I bought another F1 last night, and this time it was in Platinum Silver. Today I was very keen on painting it, so before I started flicking through all of my paints to pick one I made sure that if I ballsed up I could repaint it Platinum Silver. But it was nowhere to be found! I scrolled down my list, nothing; then scrolled through the manufacturers, and McLaren wasn't there! The strange thing is though that I'm sure in the past when I've purchased the car, colours like Historic Orange and Marlboro White have been in my list? Anyone know whats happened?

Can't use any mclaren paints as they are tight on the copy rights hence you can't use any of there colours or buy them in real life

volcano orange is listed as one of the paint options and it is very much available in real life.

Sorry but it isn't you cannot buy volcano orange, you can have something mixed to look identical to it but Mclaren will not sell you the paint.

Also, Volcano Orange from MG is very different from McLaren's (which is Volcano Black, I believe, on the MP4).

Both McLarens won't give out a paint chip, and neither will the Mustang Mach 1. The FT-86 Concept won't except for Flash Red (since all the other colours are borrowed from other cars in the game), and oddly enough, the RS6 Avant will give you a chip for everything but Misanorot Perleffekt.

If you're worried about messing up the Macca after painting it, just make sure to exit out of the game before exiting out of GT Auto. The autosave only kicks in after leaving that section, so if you quit the game and load it back up, your F1 will be the original colour, and your chips will all be there still.

volcano orange was around a good few years before mclaren made the f1.

..Ummmm in one of the promo shots for GT auto..it showed a Audi R8 about to be painted in a "mclaren orange" paint chip. Mclaren orange was the name of the paint chip.

I was wondering why this was. I bought a Mach 1 just so i could paint my new Mustang GT in Grabber Blue, but later realized that I never got the paint chip.

True, but a good chunk of the images released around that time were mock-ups. The ones showing B-Spec, for example, were riddled with errors.

That's exactly what I did too :p. I assume in McLaren's case, it has to do with a decision from the automaker. The Mach 1 (and the RS6) could be the same thing, or simply an oversight by PD's staff. At least the RS6 has the Anglo-version available, though. Other strange occurrences with the paint chips are the Premium Amuse S2000 (and Gran Turismo 350Z) providing chips for Honda and Nissan respectively, but the Standard model Amuse S2000's falling in the Amuse category.
