McLaren F1 or the Mercedes-McLaren SLR: Which Would You Take?

If money weren't an object, which car would you take? The McLaren F1 is an awesome machine that could seat three, pack 600+ horsepower, and look good kicking ass. But then, there is the Mercedes-McLaren SLR. And if you ask me, it is quite an alluring car. Imagine if the SLR is this angel from the sky with eyes that sparkle like diamonds. Then this darling has this "I'd have to sell my soul to the devil to drive this thing" enigma. And if you ask me, the F1 cues are better with this car than the Enzo, and I personally like this car over the Enzo in terms of looks.

But which car would you want, if money weren't an object? Your responses will vary, but they can come down to:

A.) I'd prefer the McLaren F1.
B.) I'd prefer the SLR.
C.) I dislike both of them. They don't interest me at all.
D.) It's a dead heat. I like both of them and do not wish to compete with which is better.

Your call, GTP. Take a break from legit daily drivers and get into this supercar deal. This is not a "versus" thread. This is more about which you like better or if you like/dlslike both of them. So let's get to it!
 
The F1.

The SLR has had too much "meddling" from Mercedes. And the protype SLR looked much better than the finished one does.
 
McLaren, The SLR is ugly, It has a nasty front end.
 
I'd take the F1 and sell it. Yes it's a fantastic car but the cash would suit me more than the car.

Umm, I wouldn't call it pimp, but its definetly beyond words. That car has amazed me ever since I saw it in 4thd grade... :)
 
my god. enough of these comparison threads. I'd take the SLR CONCEPT because as much as i love the mclaren people go nuts when the name is mentioned that just bursts my bubble. Same thing happened with the skyline. I used to love the car but then little kids come around and are like ill trade my you skyline gtr r34 for your skyline v spec! memory card powerrrr! People start talking about them as if they are god. That is why, i will go against the norm.

At least it is relatively practical for everday use (excluding flammable brakes).
 
You know, John, these threads of "what would you pick, (insert supercar name here) or the McLaren F1" are quite pointless because the Mclaren will always win. It is the best car ever made, and will never be beaten. In the next 30 years anyway

I agree with my crotch. Although I don't think practical use will heat the brakes up enough to set them on fire.
 
McLaren F1 = Ayrton Senna of the 'car world'

Mercedes SLR = Liberace of the 'car world'


The SLR was only the 3rd best car in its particular field the day it was launched!!!

The F1 on the other hand has never been bettered in the 10 years since its launch!

As for SLR practicality - all testers have complained about it been cramped - the F1 can seat 3!
 
I would have to say the F1...

However I really want a car with vertical doors!!!

Don't know why... not sure... probably something to do with back to the future!!

Mclaren F1.... However it would probably be sold so I could live an easy life..... What a hassle that car would be for me anyways.... (Insurance, maintainence etc..) A great car for the extremely rich...... :)
