In this month's Evo magazine, they have a story about a Porsche 911 tuned by 9ff. It has 838bhp and did 241.1mph round Nardo. That is exactly 1mph faster than the F1.

The car did 230-something the last time it was at Nardo for a Continental tyres test, but it has more power now. It only had 700-odd then.....

I can't find any other info on it on the web and I've left the mag at work, so I can't even scan it.

EDIT: just found these

388km/h = 241.1mph

EDIT EDIT: I know in the Andy Wallace/F1 record run video he reads out 391km/h, but the official record was corrected to 386.7km/h.

Awesome 👍
BTW...I can only see red xs' ;)
I've attached them here

There are a few tuner cars out there that beat the McLaren's record, but the record itself is for the fastest PRODUCTION car. So the McLaren still keeps the record for now.

The Koenigsegg CCR is the closest possible thread.

I tought Koeningsegg was faster. Odd.

The Koeningsegg could be faster. I don't believe it's top speed has been fully tested yet.

And this isn't even the world's fastest street legal tuner car. May I remind all of you of the mighty Callaway Sledgehammer, which hit a mind boggling 250mph many years ago (I think it was in 1991). Still, 241mph is a very impressive speed!

I just said the 9ff had beaten the F1's top speed. I didn't say it had gained a record.

The Koenigsegg CCR's top speed has never been tested yet, but they are allegedly heading to Nardo at some point to try it out.

The 9ff boys are going to come back and hope to get 250mph.

And then in about 14 years, if they get it ready, we'll maybe see what the Veyron can do.....

daan, that's not fair at all to the McLaren. That Vette and Porsche are tuned. The F1 is stock.

I say the F1 is still better.

Hmmm. so that will be an unofficial top speed, which means it may or may not be true. These claims need to be backed up with accurate facts.

"The top speed of 254.76 MPH was attained by John Lingenfelter as the driver, and apparently was not an official documented recorded speed."

I'm curious now. What road car has officially beaten the McLaren's 240mph and the 9ff's 241?

The 9ff was timed by 3 GPS devices which all agreed that was the exact speed

daan, get real. Fastest production car as in...the WAY THE FRIGGIN FACTORY BUILDS IT! Not the way a tuner makes it.

Sorry about that. Just a bit stressed.

just because another car has a faster top speed doesnt downgrade the F1.

its 1 mph too... so dont be so stressed. lol.

I read the article too. It's amazing that the car reached this speed but even more so because it's never been in a wind tunnel. On these runs at Nardo the 9ff guys were setting up the aerodynamics as well as beating the F1's record.

A big hooray for the 9FF 9F-V400. Hopefully it will reach 400kph soon!

And BTW, apparently the car is too fast for Nardo! :scared:

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

I agree with you! :O

However, I would like to see a tuner build up the McLaren F1 with say....800-1000 HP and retest the top speed? :O I don't ever think that a McLaren F1 will ever be tuned because they are so rare and the owners probably won't want the McCutie modified.

Well, don't take it out on me! Have I mentioned anything in any of my posts about the McLaren not being the fastest production car? That's the first time I've typed production in this thread!

All I said was that the 9ff has beaten the F1's top speed. I never said that the McLaren had lost it's fastest production car record.

For those commenting on the Koenigsegg above: I was lucky enough to get a chat with the official Koenigsegg importer in this country, and I asked about the 400km/h rumours. He replied that while the factory guarantees a top speed of 385km/h (achieved on Nardo, I believe), under optimum conditions, the car will easily fling past 400km/h.

He would say that. He wants to sell them....

As far as I know the CCR, or any Koenigsegg, has never done a top speed run. We would surely know about it if it had. But with 806bhp, it should certainly be capable of getting to 240mph.

I'm not thinking "tune the car up and retest the top speed" here - surely you don't want a top speed made by some tuning company scum when McLaren have the top speed straight off the shelf? ;)

There's always the option of bringing out a new model McLaren with even more power (and perhaps its own motor this time, not BMW sourced... cue M5Power..) and doing another top speed production run.

(At this current point in time there is a replay going on GT4 prologue and it's featuring a "Motor Triathlon Race Car" and it is the weirdest contraption I ever saw!)

Agreed. I hate these people who make even minor modifications to ultra rare vehicles. Keep it the way it was meant to be!

The CCR hasn't the CC8S has but the weather was bad and it started to rain, however even in the rain the car hit over 220Mph.
