Out of curiosity, what kind of prices do you pay for meat in your country/area?

Any kind of meat, more types the better.

Supermarket prices would be something like....

(roughly)
£1 per lb/£2.20 per kg for Chicken (a whole one) Chicken breasts probably around £3 per lb/ £6.60 per kg
£4 per lb/ £8.80 per kg for Lamb
£3 per lb/ £6.60 per kg for Beef
£2.50 per lb/ £5.50 per kg for Pork

Butchers (most would call these a deli iirc) prices would be..

£1.50 per lb/ £3.30 per kg for Chicken (a whole one), Chicken breasts would be about £4.50 per lb/ £9.90 per kg
£5 per lb/ £11 per kg for Lamb
£4 per lb/ £8.80 per kg for Beef
£3 per lb/ £6.60 per kg for Pork

Do it in whatever currency you use, for simplicity's sake.

Problem isn't currency, it's weight. I'll have to make conversions from kgs to lbs...

Actually, it's kind of good that the UK uses grams. I think it would be kind of confusing to ask for a pound of meat.

I've never found it confusing. But then most people will buy packaged meat anyway, so it's not the norm (unfortunately).

Yeah, but there will always be the hesitation regarding whether you meant a pound as in weight or money.

Just for the mid-west... We're looking at about $3.25 a pound (16 oz) for extra-lean ground beef. Thats a small increase, about a quarter from a year or so ago. Go to a store that doesn't have the buying/selling power of the Meijer chain and you're looking at something close to $4.00 for the same amount.

The difference would be: "Can i have a pound of meat please?"
or if you were a tight/skint/jobless/having a very small dinner party for one, type of person: "Can i have a pound's worth of meat please?"

My god, the kind of threads i find myself in after midnight.

:irked:👍
