GTPlanet, Street Fighter and stuff may have put Capcom on the map, but if there was one other portal open to Capcom's success, let it be the ever-popular MegaMan series. The MegaMan/RockMan series was one of the best series in its simplistic, but fun gaming feel. While some people aren't real big fans of the new style of MegaMan, if you want to know what the "good old days" was like with this series, get your PS2 or GameCube, and get this game.
INFO: You can play all the MegaMan games from the NES (MM 1-6), Super Nintendo (7), and PlayStation 1 (8). Also included are two arcade games never released in America- RockMan: The Power Battles 1 and 2, which are basically fighting game versions of the classic series. I am a big fan of the MegaMan series. My favorite one is MegaMan 5. MegaMan 5 had some of the best music I've ever listened to, plus it was pretty fun. When you play MegaMen 1-6, you have the option to go with old-school gameplay, or you can enable "Navi Mode," and you'll be able to receive hints about certain parts of the level and how to beat certain bosses. All you have to do is press Select the moment you see a flashing yellow "!" icon. In addition to that, you get to hear some remixed music. Playing through the game so far, and more than 80% or 85% of level music have been remixed for MM's 1-6. So if you think MIDI is so 20th Century, now you have something to feel good about. Cycling through weapons and enabling Rush (MM2 and over) has never been easier. Just use the L2 and R2 triggers to activate Rush, then use the L1 and R1 triggers to cycle through weapons you've earned. If in a firefight, if you want to get the job done faster, press and hold Triangle to fire rapidly at your enemy.
PROS: rapid fire can make firefights easier, kind of a legal cheat you can use; nice remixed music for the levels which feature remixes; old school gaming that's untainted; if you've never played a certain MegaMan in the classic series, you can play them at long last; colorful graphics
CONS: (for MM veterans) makes you wish these games could have been this simple and helpful back then!
FINAL VERDICT: I'm a MegaMan veteran, so if I love it, you probably will too. Go get it. Hurry! I think it sells for less now. My mom got it from Wal-Mart for under $15 USD. Brings back some memories for me, personally. (Final Verdict: 9.50/10.00)
