Melkus is an artisan manufacturer based in Dresden (Germany). Founded in 1959 by the German driver Heinz Melkus, the manufacturer has produced a model, the RS1000 to its first closing in 1986. But in 2006, the son of Heinz Melkus, Sepp Melkus, decided to produce the replacement for the RS1000 which he called the RS2000, has developed the sports Gullwing on a base Lotus Elise.

The GTS will come with an adjustable suspension system, a lightweight bodykit and a high-performance braking system. It will also come with a number of high-end materials, including a carbon-fiber front spoiler and rear wing, a carbon-fiber diffuser, side guides, and an interior that also features a carbon fiber trim.

The 4-cylinder turbo now develops 350 hp instead of 300 hp. Sepp Melkus expects to reach 300 km/h with the new power and 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds. As for the price, it is displayed to 149,900 euros.

Yes I'm aware some of the pictures is of the Black Edition version, but I really don't think it needs a separate thread.

Oh hey, annother lotus exige lookalike. Because this thing would be soooo much better than just having a lotus exige. :grumpy:

........Oi, nearly 150,000 Euros for a lightly modified Exige? Wooooow. Can't really see what the Germans did to an already excellent Lotus to warrant a near five-fold increase in price...still voted though.

Mostly badge snobbery. Paying five times the price for being able to say that yours is more exclusive.

............
To rebutt those who say such things: "Exclusivity means jack if no-one has ever heard of it before...." :sly:

Yeah, most of them don't seem to realise that. For me personally however, I often do like unique and obscure models, but purely because they cater to my taste for oddity (as is probably the case for many of the wealthy people who purchase cars like this one), especially if the car offers something truly unique, like the Covini or Edonis.
